A PROPOSED INTERNATIONAL CRUISE HUB


in Batangas City

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY


Public transport hubs have been eyed by developers due to its rising trend and growing
industry. Cruise hubs, specifically, developed an interest in hosting cruise activities which aims
to achieve growth. It also realized the opportunity to provide services to the said industry that
offers to local economies more than returns to the port itself. Cruise tourism highlights the
perception of a cruise ship as a “floating hotel”, where cruisers enjoy the tranquility and stay in a
safe environment.
In line with the conceptualization of the Proposed Batangas International Cruise Hub in
Batangas City Port, the government is now pursuing the project to make use of the province’s
assets to provide facilities that will accommodate the international cruise industry.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

DESIGN OBJECTIVE
 Promote the country’s business industry engaging with local and international business
investors.
 Endorse culture, create distinct character and bring out aesthetic value.
 Provide efficient and comfortable spaces for future tourists and occupants.
 Improve access and circulation networks and to create green open spaces.

DESIGN INSPIRATION
“BALISONG” is the form inspiration of the ISLE Cruise Hub. Balisong is a hand
weapon which the province of Batangas is known for.

DESIGN CONCEPT
The ISLE Cruise Hub is not only focused only in leisure experience of the tourists while
they’re on vacation but also tries to promote the culture of its place, Batangas.
Batangas is known for having a “Barako” attitude among its people. “Barako” or being
stud simply portray fearlessness or bravery. Balisong signifies bravery just like the Batangueños,
it is also called a butterfly knife. A weapon that is believed to be originated from the province of
Batangas particularly, in Taal.
