Computer System Servicing (NC Ii)
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this
module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing
them to manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to
encourage and assist the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time.
You will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource while
being an active learner.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part
of the module. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer Let’s Try before moving on to the other activities
included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your
answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through
with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do
not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that
you are not alone.

ASSEMBLE COMPUTER HARDWARE
3
INTRODUCTION
In order to begin a simple work using computer, we should build first our
system unit, and basic computer configuration set up.
This module sheet informs you how to build a computer in very plain and
simple instrauction.
Let’s Recall
Input Devices
DEVICE DESCRIPTION
Keyboard The primary input device for a computer, allowing
users to type information just as they once did on
a typewriter.
Processing
COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
Motherboard The main circuit board of the computer. The large
circuit board found inside the computer. Without it, a
computer is just a metal box. The motherboard
contains all the remaining items in this table; for all
practical purposes, it is the computer.
DEVICE DESCRIPTION
Floppy Disk Drive Mechanism for reading and writing to low-capacity,
removable, magnetic disks. Used to store and easily
transport information.
Let’s Explore
Activity 1
Are you new to computers? Do you wonder what they capable of and why you
would want to use one? This information gives you overview of computers:
what they are, the different types of computer.
In the office, many people use computers to keep records, analyze data, do
research, and manage projects. At home, you can use computers to find
information, store pictures and music, track finances, play game. And
communicate with others – and those are just a few of the possibilities.
These observations are possible because the computers in the computer shop
are connected with each other and there is a central computer which is above
all the other computers.

Refer to the table below and answer the questions that follow.
Activity 3
Imagine that you are going to set-up a client-server network with 4 computers.
Draw the set-up of your network complete with the needed devices. Establish
connection by drawing connector lines. You may use the figure given on Let’s
Elaborate section as your guide.

Activity 2
Using a dictionary, find the meaning of the following words and use them in a
sentence. Write your answers below.
3. Memory - _________________________________________________________________
__________________________________________________________________.
4. Graphic - _________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________.
5. Storage - ___________________________________________________________________
These five (5) words combined and applied to computer specifications will be our
lesson for today.
Let’s Elaborate
The specification or ‘spec’ is a list of the key components that make up the computer.
It is provided by retailers to help buyers decide which PC, and which combination of
features, they need. When buying a PC, it is important to start by deciding what it is
you want the PC to do. This then informs what specification you actually need.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the computer’s system specifications.
2. Know the different method in getting system’s specifications.
3. Prepare the USB Flash disk and Bootable Disk Image for creating bootable USB
installer
Let’s Dig In
Activity 3
Using a computer with installed Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system, try to
add graphics card GPU model and system type on your given virtual application.
What are the problem(s) you encountered during the installation? How did you solve
the problem(s)?
