Let s focus on
Languange structure

To compose a news item text, you will need the use of :

- The past tenses (the simple past, the past continuous, the past perfect)
- Adverb of manner ( happily, joyfully, slowly, fast, etc)
- Adverb of time and place( one day, after the lesson, etc)
- Action verbs ( go, walk, drive ,etc)
- Saying verbs (tell, say, reply, shout, answer, complain)
- Conjunctions ( and, but, so, because, for , or)
- Time connectives ( after that, meanwhile, the next morning, then, finally, at the end)
- Pronoun (he, she, them , etc)
- Passive sentences
E.g. the three victim are found by a SAR team in Banda Sea
The whole village was swept away by a “Tsunami” last year
- Direct and indirect speech
e.g. “the victim was taken to hospital for intensive care, ‘’ said the chief police. (Direct
speech)
The meteorologist said that there were no victims during the tremor ( indirect speech)

Andrianasulistianingsih , an Indonesian maid in Hong Kong won a civil
case this week against her former employer for shocking physical abuse .
Although she is happy with the result, she said authorities aren’t doing
enough to protect foreign domestic workers; most of them are women from
Indonesia. A Hongkong court ordered Sulistianingsih former employer to pay
her over 100.000 US dollar in damage for the abuse which occurred over
eight months starting in 2013.the employer Mother was earlier convicted on
assault and other charge fine and given six year prison term. Sulistiningsih
urged Hongkong authorities to review current policies and practices said not
enough is being done to protect workers.
