AGR003 Laboratory Stats Tester: For Android

Stats tester is a free Android app that allows users to perform common parametric and non-parametric statistical tests and view graphs of the results. It includes tests like mean, standard deviation, t-tests, ANOVA, correlation coefficients, and non-parametric equivalents. The app stores entered data and results so they can be recalled later. It aims to make complex statistical analysis easy to use through an intuitive interface and help documents for each test.

Stats Tester
for Android
https://bmp-group.org/Android_en/

Stats tester is a free and easy to use statistics calculator for Android and
iOs smartphones developed by BMP Group of Niiza, Saitama, Japan.
Stats tester for Android can be installed for free from Play Store.
This app has the following features.
1. Each statistics method has useful [Help], [Example], [Share] and [Graph] buttons.
2. As one input window accepts one group data (max = 100), it is easy to edit the
entered data (addition, deletion or modification).
3. Entered data and results calculated by each method are being memorized (stored in
memory) until the next use. This functionality is one several features of this app that
makes its usage more convenient.

You can perform common parametric and non-parametric statistics tests and obtain some graphs by its
easy and user friendly process. These statistical test or operations are the following,
Parametric Nonparametric
1. Mean, SD and SEM, etc 1. Median, Range and Quartiles
- Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic - Median

How to use Stats Tester

In Stats Tester you can perform basic statistics tests in an easy and
convenient way. The maximum sample size is 100 per group at
each test.

### Main menu page ###

1. Parametric or nonparametric statistics can be selected.
2. [Main Help] shows how to use this app. This can
also be found in the 3 dot menu.
3. [All clear] button clears all data saved in the internal
memory.

### Each stats page ###

1. The [<] button returns to the main menu page.
2. [Help] button shows help for each statistics test.
3. [Example] button enters example data.
4. [Calc] button performs a statistics test.
 After calculation, input and output data are stored into the internal
memory.
 These data can be deleted by [All clear] button in the 3 dot menu.
5. The short tap of [Clear] button clears the data of the selected input window.
The long tap of [Clear] button clears all input windows.
6. [Graph] button displays the graph.
7. [Share] button sends the results to other apps (editor, mailer, etc.).

== Input window ==
Data can be
1. entered using a keyboard.
2. pasted from the clipboard.
3. copied to the clipboard.
4. For the format of input data, see the "hint" displayed after tapping the
[Clear] button. [Example] button shows example data.

== Output window ==
1. Results on the output-window can be shared using other apps (ex. mailer
and editors).
2. Input and output data are stored in the memory after each successful
calculation, and the next calculation overwrite the memory. Internal memory
stored data can be erased by [All clear] button in 3 dot menu (main menu
page).

== Graph window ==
Graph images can be acquired with Android screen capture and shared with
other apps.
Descriptive Measures in Stats Tester

The descriptive measures mean (arithmetic, geometric and harmonic), standard deviation, standard error
(SEM), variance, coefficient of variation, measure of skewness and kurtosis can be output using menu tab
Parametric  Mean, SD, SEM, Skewness, Kurtosis, which also output confidence interval estimate of
population mean 𝜇. While the ordered data, median, range, quartiles (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4), minimum (Q0), and
Quartile Deviation can be output using menu tab Nonparametric  Median, Range and Quartiles. The
output also display the equivalent Excel function of some statistics.
Example: In an experiment, nine randomly selected seedlings of Pinus kesiya inoculated with mycorrhiza
were found to have height of 23.0, 17.4, 17.0, 20.5, 22.7, 22.5, 22.7, 19.4 and 18.8 cm.
