National Service Training Program

The National Service Training Program (NSTP) Law aims to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness in youth. It has 3 components: Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), Literacy Training Service (LTS), and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS). All incoming college freshmen must complete one component. Components are taken for 2 semesters and credited for 3 units each. Students may cross-enroll if their school does not offer their chosen component. Graduates join the National Service Reserve Corps or Armed Forces, depending on the component. The Commission on Higher Education and Department of National Defense jointly supervise NSTP implementation.
