Expository Essay on Philippine NRI Results

The Network Readiness Index (NRI), assesses the 134 country and rank
them in four aspects which are the technology, people, Governance, and impact. In
the Philippines our technology is far beyond from other countries, but we are
competing with other countries with their technology by purchasing to them. But not
just that that prove that our economy is leveling up through the ages. The
governance of the Philippines is one of the best governing body in the whole world,
we are experiencing the best of what it’s known services ever in the country. The
impact in economy sky rocketed in the past years and I am thankful to experience
such big achievement of my country. The assessment of NRI proves that the
Philippines is getting out, being an under-developed country little by little. It also
make sense. Because all I can hear on my grandparents is how hard the life is in
their time. If the NRI is conducted in their time the Philippines might be in the 134 th
country they said.

The Philippines ranked at technology 80 th, and people 74th, governance 92nd,
impact 45th, and it rank the NRI 74 th overall. It is shocking, because if you think about
it especially in technology which we lack as a country. But this rank proves that the
quality of life in the society are improving, and moving upward in the ranking. It also
proved that economy is rising with the society and now attaining education at ease
with the help of the government implementing free tuition in college, creating
knowledge and decreasing the poverty. When we talk about technology we always
think about the gadgets and the internet, the economy also has impact on the
technology. We can’t acquire technology or gadgets if we won’t have stable job or
stable life, and it is the main problem of the countrymen. Because there are times
when people are working instead of going to school for a degree and knowledge for
future purposes. Though those aspects are rising and giving hope to countrymen, it
also produces underemployment or worse unemployment. Also the rising economy
can aid the underemployment and unemployment in the near-future but it is too far to
grasp at this moment. The countrymen will suffer first but that suffering will have a
good karma ahead.

In other-hand the people and the government give a big impact to this ranking
and it is what matter the most in me. And for me the two aspects are like Christianity.
If God is the head and his people is the body, so the government is also the head
who make the thoughts and decisions for its body; the people which function as one
to work and pay the taxes. Also the taxes are the cells that feed the government’s
veins for it to work. Because the people is known to struggle for living and the
government keep on seeking to find solutions on the problems of the country or
locality. Though the main purpose of the government is to manage the country
trough laws, it also is the one implementing and it made its function more difficult.
Moreover the people create more problems by breaking the laws even though they
know the laws, and it created a breakdown on the government. It might be simple
breaking of laws or major one, but it can affect functionality of a certain department
of the government. Like; when other persons stand in a line for so long and you take
the offer of a “fixer” trade with money to make your life easy and be on the line first. It
is the simplest breaking of law but it will create a trust issue on those persons you
cut the line with. This tells that the government and the people needed to stop
criticizing each other and became a functioning one.

The impact to the economy, quality of life, and SDG contribution are big. It
rocketed from down below to high above, this are the thing people in the 90s did not
see. Although it gave hope to every person in the country to expect more in our
economy to rise again, this pandemic hit us hard, and we can expect down fall on
this aspect “impact”, not just on this aspect but in every aspect, but the government
keep on making decisions for everyone. The quality of life in the Philippines are the
most fought problem from the beginning, it creates problem to the government and
its departments, but the people are always smiling through hard time that’s why we
are called strange people, who laugh at hard times. And the hard times give the
Filipinos the drive to strive for more, more of knowledge and skills to be used in good
work and quality work. There are instance where knowledgeable person is more
down than the one who didn’t, because of the hard work and “deskarte”. Like the
farmer, they gamble a lot in their life, there are times when they are failure but they
sometimes get lucky, and that drive them to success. All of that means the quality of
life in the Philippines is improving, not just in the urban cities but also in the
provinces.

All in the above are the things that resulted to this high rank and even if this
ranking prove something for now it might go down someday if the people stop
grasping knowledge, and stop listening in the government, because this rank is
attained trough good doings of the society assessed by the government. This
country might go down but the people in this country wont. I personally is doing good
things for this country to make it good, clean and be worthy of such big achievement.
It might take too long to get higher rank again but it is the goal of good governance
and the best people or countrymen. The goal is to attain good life, best governance,
best technology, great people, and impact to all.
