The Philippines does not offer any legal recognition to same-sex gay marriage ,Same-sex marriage,
also known as gay marriage or homosexual marriage, is the marriage of two people of the same sex or
gender. , civil unions or domestic partnership benefits. In recent years, same-sex marriage has become
a more controversial topic on whether it’s right or wrong. People should not feel coerced to agree with
something they believe is wrong; clearly, same-sex marriage is immoral and unnatural. Many
complications come with same-sex marriages including financial pressures, social pressures, moral
pressures, and health risks. Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman.
God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the
word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and
traditions of many religious groups.
The issue of same-sex marriage frequently sparked emotional and political clashes between
supporters and opponents. But here in the Philippines although we are not against LGBTQ we all know
that same sex marriage is still not legal here, but for me even if its legal or not loving someone is never
be a sin . We can love and we can be loved by someone even if its a boy , a girl , or a lesbian . We can
freely do what we want because we still a democracy and a free country . Legalization of same sex
marriage is only in the papers the most important thing is still us , ourselves and our loved ones . Just
don't forget to be always kind to others .
Base on our research by "INQUIRER.NET" in Manila, Philippines —President Rodrigo Duterte supports
gender equality but he is not in favor of either church or civil marriage among same-sex couples, his
spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday.
Roque issued the statement when asked about the President’s stand on the contentious sexual
orientation and gender identity expression (SOGIE) bill, which is currently being tackled by a House
panel.
The Palace official said that while Duterte supports equality regardless of sexual orientation, he is letting
lawmakers iron out details of the proposed legislation that aims to protect the rights of LGBTQIA+
members.
“Malinaw na malinaw po ang paninidigan ng ating Presidente. naniniwala po siya na lahat ng Pilipino ay
pantay-pantay anuman ang kanilang kasarian,” Roque said in a televised press briefing.
“Pero hahayaan na po natin sa Kongreso kung ano ang magiging pinal na bersyon ng SOGIE bill. Ang
Presidente naman po ay nagsabi…hindi po sang-ayon ang Presidente sa same-sex marriage, be it church
or civil hindi po siya sang-ayon,” he added.
Roque’s latest pronouncements, however, contradict the statements he himself made before about the
issue.
In December 2017, Duterte said in a speech that he was in favor of changing the law to allow same-sex
marriage in the Philippines.
But Roque then explained that the President was only referring to same-sex civil union. We know that
president Rodrigo Duterte support the LGBTQ community but he's not agree in same sex marriage .
According In the Philippines Supreme Court Rules on Same-Sex Marriage
On January 6, 2020, the Philippines’ Supreme Court announced it had dismissed a motion to reconsider
its September 2019 ruling denying a petition to approve same-sex marriage in the country, effectively
concluding this case “with finality.” according to Article
The petition had essentially requested that the Court declare unconstitutional on equality grounds
certain provisions of the Philippine Family Code that define marriage as a union between a man and a
woman.
According to the government Same sex marriage shouldn’t be legalized in the Philippines yet because
same sex marriage would disrupt the original meaning of marriage, it shouldn’t also be the end point or
the spring board to push the LGBT agenda, and it hinders the state in protecting the LGBT community.
And according to Manny Pacquiao has provoked a storm of controversy in his home country after saying
people in same-sex relationships “are worse than animals”. The 37-year-old, who is running for a seat in
the Philippines senate in May’s elections as a conservative Christian, made the remark in a video posted
on local TV5’s election site.
“It’s common sense,” the eight times world champion, who later apologised, said. “Do you see animals
mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female. If men
mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals.”
Argument:
The family code of the Philippines defines marriage as "a special contract of permanent union between a
man and woman". The constitution of the Philippines does not prohibit same sex marriage. Allowed for
individuals but not allowed for same sex .

The case, which was filed by a gay lawyer named Jesus Falcis in 2015, urges the court to declare the
marriage restriction in the country's family code. Falcis argues that the marriage restrictions violate his
right to due process, equal protection, and forming a family under the Philippine constitution.

Many christians are against to same sex marriage, the passages in the bible that condemn same
sex marriage are located in the old statement Leviticus 18:22 "You shall not lie with a male as a woman
for its an abomination". The bible also has no genetic research to backup it's claims of calling the topic
"an abomination". Research shown that if you having a relationship with same sex it's not a sin but when
you having a sex with your partner this we can call a sin. Respect of individual beliefs and other religious
there's no having wrong for being true to yourself ,Never once did Jesus refer to what we call
homosexuality is a sin.
