Human Computer Interaction
Human computer interaction relies heavily on hand gestures. Using hand gestures is a simple,
natural, and intuitive alternative to many other current user interfaces. Computer games control,
human-robot interface, and sign language recognition are just a few examples of how hand
gesture recognition is put to good use. Hand gestures can be understood and responded to by
computers using vision-based recognition systems.
However, in today's society, human-computer contact has grown to the point that it is now a
need and something without which we would perish. We now rely on technology for everything
from job to shopping to communication to entertainment. Many people anticipate that computer,
communication, and display technology will continue to advance, yet present approaches might
constitute a bottleneck in the efficient use of the available information flow.
Recognition of hand movements for interaction is particularly beneficial in attaining the comfort
and naturalness sought for human-computer connection.. To convey their sentiments and notify
others of their views, people often employ hand gestures. Human-to-human communication
relies heavily on gesture, and the hand is a natural medium for this. This makes it well-suited for
human-computer interaction.
In today's world, when technology is at its most advanced, there are several facilities available
for providing input to any computer system applications; some of the inputs may be provided by
physical contact, while others do not. Many users may operate programs from a distance without
ever touching them by using hand gestures. However, hand gestures cannot be used as an input
for many programs. Physically challenged folks may benefit greatly from this method since they
can customize the gesture to meet their own needs.

Hand gesture recognition system has evolved tremendously in the recent few years because of
its ability to interact with machine efficiently. Mankind tries to incorporate human gestures into
modern technology by searching and finding a replacement of multi touch technology which
does not require any touching movement on screen (HCI).
