Growing up in Bangladesh, I have observed economic growth as an outcome of policy implications over

the last decade. I have always been fascinated by economics and I developed a deep-rooted affinity
towards scholarly articles about policy analysis during my time at the Bangladesh University of
Professionals (BUP) department of Economics. To further broaden my knowledge and experience, I now
wish to pursue a master’s degree focusing on quantitative economic analysis to become a proficient
analyst.
In my final year of undergraduate study, I completed my thesis on "Why Do Economies Fail in Adopting
Environmentally Sustainable Policies?" where I investigated the key factors that force countries to
deviate from developing economies due to environmental policy failures linked with law enforcement,
political institutions, incentive schemes, and over prioritization of economic growth. My work had made
me realize the dire need for trained analysts here in Bangladesh and led me to think how I can be a part
of fueling the change for this status quo. Although I struggled initially with my classes, I was able to
recover my grades significantly with diligence in the latter half of my coursework. It was then when I
took the advanced classes on Optimization, Econometrics, Macro-Microeconomics, Software Application
for Economic Analysis, Time-Series & Paned-Data Analysis, International Economics, and Environmental
Economics that really piqued my interest and taught me how to think critically to make data-driven
decisions. Furthermore, I developed crucial leadership and communication skills through various club
activities, and a full-time job at a private consultancy firm, instilling the sense of responsibility and
independent work. From a very early age I learned the value of hard work and perseverance which led
me to secure A+ (golden) at the high school level.
My goal is to work in the development sector of Bangladesh, specifically in a think tank, and add to
interdisciplinary research on diverse policy issues to improve the lives of the people of my country. Thus,
in my pursuit of becoming an adept analyst specializing in applying a quantitative perspective to related
theories, and I have come to understand that my career interests are well-aligned with the Syracuse
University offered program. Besides that, the university delivers an accessible environment for graduate
student placement. This opens a door for collaboration among faculty members and students in the area
of survey design and research implementation. Having a master's degree in Economics from a globally
recognized institution would certainly provide me with the tools to fulfill my ambition. It will not only
help me tackle the real-world challenges, but also allow me to establish effective strategies for complex
problems and contribute to the global economy. I am confident that my blend of academic background,
fieldwork, project presentations, and professional skills would stand me in good stead among Syracuse
University’s diverse learning environment. If given the opportunity, I would be immensely grateful to
work with the distinguished faculty and scholars of Syracuse University, USA.
