Lesson 1a: Beginning a New Journey

1. START UP: Listen to this song using this link https://youtu.be/la0-5QFLr14

 Done

2. LOG-IN: List down the things you want to accomplish and achieve this second
semester.
 To learn something that can help me become a better person
 To have more memories with my friends
 To pass all my requirements on time
 To graduate and have an award
 To be happy

3. LOADING: Read the article in this http://atheismnetwork.org/2011/12/20/the-bible-

is-not-the-worlds-best-selling-book/ and answer the following questions:

A. How did you feel after reading the article? Can you sense some truth about it?
 I felt sadness and disappointment not only to other people but also to myself. Bible
contains the word of God and most of us are not seeing that. And yes, the article
was true, I’ve encountered people who have more fictional books than Bible. Some
people let’s say have a Bible in their house, but it doesn’t mean that everyone who
owns it will read it every day. It is a fact that most of us are more interested in
reading or owning fictional books than knowing the words of God.

B. Comparing the Holy Bible and Harry Potter, do you think it is fair to use reading as
basis for its relevance to one’s life?
 Yes, we have our own ways in becoming a better person ourselves but reading
books can make us realize things that we didn’t know. Reading a book is a good
hobby. We can be more knowledgeable about something. Reading is not a waste
of time because reading can be one of the things that you can do to relax.
Whenever I feel so stressed about my problems, I try to read books. Reading will
not only make me feel relaxed it can also give me information or lessons. Lessons
that can help me improve or realize the important things in life. It will widen our
knowledge and reading a Bible can help us know more about the words and
wisdom of God.
C. How do you rate yourself 5 being the highest and 1 the lowest in reading the Holy Bible?
 I will be honest in rating myself when reading a Bible, its 1. Because in the article
that I have just read, I am one of those people. I’m more interested in reading
fictional books than reading a Bible. I only read Bible when its necessary. When my
teacher asks me about it, or I must know a certain verse in the Bible. In my opinion
reading a Bible should be implemented but it doesn’t define us. I don’t totally read
Bible, but it doesn’t mean that I am a bad person because all of us have our own
ways of becoming a good person and I also believe in God and I know that he is
always there for us.

4. PROCESSING: Watch this video https://youtu.be/fsMzG7V_pzg to know more

about the Holy Bible.
To do list:

A. Write down at least 5 significant information you discovered about the Holy Bible in
the video.
 In the Bible, God is speaking to us like a Father to his children.
 God designed and authored the Bible through the writings of his divinely
inspired human authors.
 The Bible has been translated in 450 languages.
 The word of God is written in every page of the Bible, it serves as guide as
we follow Jesus Christ.
 The bible contains 73 books, 46 books in the old testament and 27 in the
new testament.
 Gospel are apocryphal books. Canonicity means rule or what is to be the
standard.
 The Bible is the foundation of our faith in God.
 Bible contain God’s saving truth.

B. Explain briefly the words of St. Jerome “If we pray, we talk to God. When we read the
Bible, God speaks to us.” How does the Holy Bible become an effective way for God to
communicate to us?
 As I have learned that in the Bible God is speaking to us like a father to his
children. Whenever we have problems, we pray to God to help us. We are the one
who will solve it and God is only guiding us through the Bible. The Bible contains
his words and it is his way of communicating to us. So, we must always remember
that the Bible was created by God to let his people communicate with him.

2. LOG-IN: After reading the article, briefly answer the following questions:

A. What was the message communicated by the article?

 Sometimes in life we need to close our eyes and appreciate the life that we have. We all
need it because we are all human and every human needs to rest and learn how to
cherish life and to know what we really feel. We also close our eyes for us to be ready to
face reality.
B. What specific line in the article you find yourself most interested? Why?
That’s my
favorite line in the article, whenever I am stressed about something or I have problems I
tend to close my eyes for a bit. I feel relaxed and when my eyes are closed, I can think
more, like on how I am going to solve my problems. I closed my eyes to ready myself, to
think more about reality and on how can I bravely face it.
C. In one (1) word how will you summarize the invitation for you in this article?
 Rest is the word that I can think of. We closed our eyes not only to sleep but also to rest
and feel relaxed before facing what’s in front of us.

3 LOADING: Watch and reflect on the video using this link

https://youtu.be/YehxfK8oXx0 Points to ponder:

A. What was the question of the rich young Man?

 He asked Jesus what is the good thing that he needs to do to have an eternal life.
B. How did the rich young Man respond to the challenge of Jesus?
 Jesus told him to go and sell or give his rich to the poor his response was so selfish, he
turned his back on Jesus and silently walked away.
C. How is the encounter of Jesus and the rich young man connects to you?
 It gave a lesson to me, that being rich is nothing when you die. It’s a good thing to be
rich because you can have the things you want but you must know how to give.
In this part, you are required to continue to write/ encode your answer in the same letter
size paper. If you are to talk to the rich young man after leaving Jesus, what will you tell
him?
 I would tell him to not be so selfish with wealth. You can’t carry it in your own
grave. Do good to the people around you. Learn how to give. Giving is not a sin,
you give because people needs it. Being helpful will help you to become closer
with God. Its like give and take. You help and give others what you received, and
God will grant you something without knowing it.

4. PROCESSING:
The JOY of the GOSPEL fills the hearts and lives of ALL who encounter Jesus. Those who
accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness.
Excerpt from Pope Francis, Evangeli Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel)
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

a. The GOSPEL is where we encounter Jesus through His stories and His teachings.

b. The obedience to the Law just like what the young rich man did from childhood is not
enough if we don’t see the value of sharing one’s life to OTHERS.

c. The invitation for every Christian like you and me is to allow OTHERS to experience
Jesus in everyday living through words and deeds.

5. LOG-OUT: Answer this question briefly (3-5 sentences only) How can the GOSPEL bring
good and positive feelings to others?
 Gospel is the teaching of God. Gospel contains words that can help people appreciate
and learn about life. The Bible contains Gospel which gives or remind us that God is
always there, that in every problem he is there to guide us and to remind us what is the
good deeds that we can do to make our life better. Gospel also contains positivity we
can read it whenever we are feeling down.

Lesson 2: The Faith Journey of the Filipino People

3. START UP: Read this article https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/280326/church-failing-to-

reach-youth
Answer the following questions briefly:

A.What was the article all about?

 The article was about Catholic Church. That sooner or later if the church fails on reviving
the faith to youths, Philippines will be no longer a Catholic country.

B.How did you feel about the facts presented by the article?
 I felt sadness and disappointment not only to my fellow youths but also to myself. The
statements that was in the article was all true. But I think that Church is not the one
who failed on expressing faith to youths. We ourselves, who we called youth are the
ones who are at fault. We are the ones who don't express much of our faith to the
church and to God. We must remember that we don’t go to church because we are the
church.

C.What could be the significant impact of the message in the article in our Christian life?
 That if we don’t participate and express our beliefs in Jesus in the ways we can, Catholic
Church will continue losing its members and sooner Philippines will lose Christianity. So,
we must always remember to put more of our faith to church and especially to God.

5.LOG-IN: List down the behaviors you observe among your fellow teens in relation to
church/spiritual related activities such as Sunday Mass, rosary and other Christian
practices.
 Inactive
 Undisciplined
 Impatient
 Lazy
 Careless
6. LOADING: Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4YN8mMHAjA

After watching the video, how can you widen your understanding of Prayer?
 It is wrong to accused or to assumed that praying is for lazy or old people because they
are the ones who are dependent on God. Praying can do many good things. By praying
we can open ourselves to our God, we can do our job according to his will and we can
help our fellow Filipinos to have a better world. Because in praying we can do more
good things.

d.PROCESSING: Read this Gospel story: Luke 5: 17-20

The Healing of a Paralytic.

17* One day as Jesus was teaching, Pharisees * and teachers of the law were sitting there who
had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was
with him for healing.18And some men brought on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed; they
were trying to bring him in and set [him] in his presence.19But not finding a way to bring him in
because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on the stretcher through the
tiles* into the middle in front of Jesus.20When he saw their faith, he said, “As for you, your sins
are forgiven.”

Points for reflection:

A. Aside from the healing and forgiveness of sins, what could be considered the
highlight in this story?
 Faith to God and Determination.
B. Recall a significant event in your life that your life became a blessing to others.
 I think it is when I was born. Growing up, my mother told me that I was a
blessing to her life. Also, to someone and my friends I was told that they’re
happy because I became a part of their life.

5. SIGN-OFF: Read the Church teachings below: taken from the Catechism for Filipino
Catholics, 121

Filipinos do all this spontaneously, naturally, but not without difficulty. Sometimes we turn
away, or refuse to listen, or are rejected by the other. But genuine friendships create mutual
loving knowledge of each other. In them we experience something that liberates us from our
own narrowness and opens us to fuller life and love. We realize that friendship freely offered
us by another, also demands our free response. It is a response that is never just one act, but a
long process of growing intimacy with our friend. Inevitably, others among our families and
associates are eventually involved. Especially God.

Focusing on the Filipino people as Christian faithful, what lessons can we learn as nation from
the 2015 papal visit with various challenges of our country today?
 In 2015, pope Francis visited Philippines and he have said many good words that
encouraged lots of people to have faith in everything. We encounter many problems
that test us how to be strong and that we can cry if we are sad or angry or we don’t
really know what to do. Pope Francis said that “I invite each one of you here to ask
yourself: Have you learned how to weep? How to cry? If you don’t learn how to cry,
you can’t be good Christians. This is a challenge.” It taught me that we must learn
how to cry, to weep it and not to keep it in. We need to let it all out because it can
help us to calm. Another challenge that our country encounters today is poverty. Last
time Pope Francis remind us to think about the poor or have we done something to
the poor. It tells us that we must help and learn how to love the poor because in
loving the poor we are also loving our country.

Lesson 3: I am the Church at Work

4. START UP: Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXs2QGzqzMI

Answer the following questions briefly:

A.Describe in one word the situation presented in the video?

 Hope, because PSF gave hope and light to all those communities.

B.How did the people respond and utilize the project given to them?
 The communities are grateful to Pilipinas Shell Foundation. It is because PSF gave a
project to them where they build a lighting source to light up their homes and energy to
do their household duties. PSF also gave training to the people in the community to help
them learn on how to fix, manage and use the lighting source so they don’t need to call
electricians. The communities that the PSF helped, used the energy wisely.

C.Looking into bayanihan spirit, how far can we go as nation if the framework of this project
can be lived by every Filipino?
 We can implement and make this world a better place if we continue helping others. We
can light up more homes. We can give hope to the people who are losing their faith to
have a better homes and place.

2. LOG-IN: Read the text below taken from Catechism for Filipino Catholics, 60

We are called both personally, as individual believers, and ecclesially, as members of the
Church, to share Jesus Christ with our Asian brethren by word and witness, through active
commitment to truth, justice, freedom and universal Christian love.
The Church teaching you just read reminds us of our important role in the Evangelization in
Asia, what could be the best possible way that we can fulfill these challenging tasks? Think of
an answer and let us talk about them next meeting.

Answer the following questions:
A.What is BEC and why the program was highly encouraged by the Catholic Church?
 BEC is Basic Ecclesial Communities as agents of communion, participation and mission.
Because this program consists of small communities who gather and share the word of
God to everyone.

B.How is BEC helping the Catholic Church in living out our call to live in holiness?
 They are from the same neighborhood, they know each other, and they try to discern
the movement of God in their daily lives and they tend to share it to one another. Their
fellowship is a way of being church because church is a communion of believers. They
are helping the Catholic church; they do not only share the word of God but also their
concerns in their personal and family lives.

C.How is “Faith without works is dead true” (cf. James 2:14-26) rings true to this video?
 Faith without action is dead. It doesn’t matter if we have faith, we must prove it. We
must show our faith. Faith is next to doing something good not only for ourselves but
also to others. So, having faith and good deeds can help us in showing or spreading the
word of God.

How can you follow Jesus’s teachings by using and improving your talents? You will feel happier
and help others when you do.
 I don’t really know if having a good time management is a talent. But I know for a fact
that I’m good with it. I know how to set plans and how to control most of my time. I will
gladly encourage others because it is very helpful especially to students like me who has
a lots of school works. I will encourage because I noticed some students who always
procrastinate. In this way I am following Jesus’s teachings by helping those who are in
need. They need help and I can also learn from them.

Performance Task/EXAM: Care for Our Common Home

1. START UP: Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1ezKQXBg8M

Answer the following questions briefly:

1. Based on the video, how is social enterprise helping people?

 The women in Payatas used to weave rugs from discarded scraps of cloth they got from the
Payatas Disposal Facility. Before workers earn less and lack of social protection but Rags to
Riches Enterprise changed that. Rags to Riches Enterprise is a support profit company who
seeks to help communities. They help the people especially the rug weavers to improve the
color and quality of their rugs, not only that they also sell the rugs to local bazaars.

2. How did the program Rags to Riches gave hope to people in Payatas?
 Rags to Riches mission is to help communities. They gave hope to the people of Payatas by
giving them the opportunity to improve their works, show their talents and have a job that
will help them provide the daily needs of their families. They helped the people to not only
just weave rugs but also to learn about business. They gave seminars to the rug weavers so
that they can extend their knowledge and improve their skills. The people of Payatas has
hope now, they were inspired to work hard because in all the things that Rags to Riches did,
the most important was they were told that they are not only selling rugs but a work of art.

3. How does human dignity was upheld in this inspiring story?

 Before, the workers (rug weavers) of Payatas was making lots of rugs but they were not the
one who will get the bulk of profits; they are the ones who worked hard to weave rugs, but
they only receive a few of the total sales. The program Rags to Riches changed that, as they
helped the people to earn the money that they deserved. They are now respected because
they are creating and making art not just a rug. The Rags to Riches respect the women of
Payatas as they don’t call them workers or labors but partners because they are also part
owners of the business. I admired the Rags to Riches because they gave the people
opportunity and well-deserved rights to earn for their hard works. They inspire the people
to fight for their rights as an individual who must have a job that will help them and to be
known by all for their art.

2. LOG-IN: Read this text taken from the Laudato Si:

“All of us can cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her own
culture, experience, involvements and talents.” (Paragraph 14)
Amidst the global warming and the impact of maximizing the resources of the earth is the call of our
holy Father Francis through his encyclical Laudato Si to respond with deep love and concern for our
common home. The earth created by God for man must be cared for so many can live one with the earth.
3. LOADING: Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v647zFRzguo
Answer the following questions:

1. Recall different environmental issues in the Philippines you know.

 Philippines are prone to national disasters such as typhoons, floods and landslides. These
disasters are common to countries but as of now what really bothers me is the human-
caused environmental degradation particularly the loss of agricultural lands and coral reefs,
deforestation and pollution on both air and water. Many people and animals are suffering
because of this. I’ve been hearing and seeing news that many sea animals are now dead
because of the improper disposal of solid and toxic waste. In Davao City a whale shark was
found dead, and according to the necropsy several pieces of plastic are in the whale shark’s
stomach. Nowadays people tend to put trash everywhere without thinking what the effect
will be.

2. How are the poor affected with these environmental concerns?

 According to the video that I have watched the earth, our home is beginning to look more
and more like a pile of filth. Treating the earth as if it has unlimited supply of resources can
cause climate changes. That is the biggest challenge we ever face in this earth; all people are
suffering but it is the poorest communities who suffers the most. It is them who lacks most
of the resources that we usually get from our home the earth. They will be the one who will
face unhealthy living conditions. All of us consumed natural resources in order to remain
alive but most people consumed and wasted too much that the poor people who rely on
them for their survival will receive the unending environmental problems.

3. What are the suggested activities in the video as response to Laudato Si?
 To save our planet; first, we must work together and have a common plan. The activities are
use of more public transportation, avoiding the use of plastic and paper, reduce our water
wastes and right disposal of wastes. The most important activity is we need to slow down on
how much we consume and throw away.

Answer the question in page 1 last paragraph.

“Would there be enough food?”

Yes, because Jesus blessed and divided the food for everyone to ate. Sharing is God’s
way of love. I believed in the saying ‘the more we share the more we have’ so I am not surprised
that there is a miracle 12 basket left. We must share our blessings without waiting for something
in return. It is the God’s duty to give us more blessings if we really deserved it.

Reflection question:

1. What is the role of the Church being the followers of Christ in preserving the environment?
 People always go to Church to listen to the words of God. Everything that the church
taught is all from Him, they believed in God, so they also believe in the church. Church is
like an instrument of Christ, they spread the word of God as well as the concerns for our
environment. God created everything, all the things that we received, the resources that
we used in our daily life comes from Him. As of now a lot of people abused the earth,
we are making decisions, but we don’t tend to think what the possible outcomes are.
We are so careless, but God is always helping us through the church. They encouraged
us to stood up and protect our environment. They help us realize the things that may
occur if we set our minds or we continue to avoid taking care of our surroundings.

2. Why is the Church in the process considered opposing the government in the implementation of
what seems signs of development and progress to the community?
 We care for our community, but we don’t have the guts to stand up for our rights. In the
video that I have watched, the church is also helping for the safety of all living things
that live in a placed called Lobo, Batangas. There are activities that are held in Lobo that
harm the people or the living things. Mining is one of the activities, it can destroy the
beauty of that place. They benefit from it, but they don’t care about the effects that the
people in Lobo Batangas will face. God’s creation should be taken care of but the fact
that even the government itself is implementing rules or law that can cause harm to the
everyone. Protecting our mother nature is our goal.

3. How does the Gospel- the life of Jesus significant in the advocacy towards the “Care of Our
Common Home”?
 We humans are commanded to take care of God’s creations. We should be grateful to
God because he provides our daily needs through his creations. We should also
advocate things that are good for our environment. Care for our common home is like
protecting Christ, protecting them is also same as protecting others. That Gospel remind
us to strengthen our hope for the better future. God’s creation is a gift from him we
should all know that. The Gospel help us in many ways including in this is the realization
of the importance of our mother nature. Also, our openness to see and hear the
concerns of the nature and the poor. We must always remember to prioritize the safety
of all because our actions or decisions in life can affect everyone that surrounds us.

“Save Energy and Natural Resources”

“Walking is one of the major ways to save gasoline and oil. It keeps the environment from the
pollutions that the fossil fuels bring. Walking also plays an important role in improving our life. It can
protect the environment and the natural resources.”

kasi umuonti yung polusyon.

aking eskwelahan ngunit limitado lamang.
walang labis walang kulang.
pantay pantay at tayo’y lubos niyang mahal.

kumpleto.

 Done.
10. LOADING: After reading the Gospel story for log-in, try to connect the message of the
Gospel Story in this Church teaching.

The Second Plenary Council of the Philippines (PCP II) states that A Church where nobody is so poor
as to have nothing to give, and nobody so rich as to have nothing to receive.
 The message of the Gospel Story was to believe in Jesus. We must put our trust to
him. He cares for us so he will not make things that will harm us. He sacrifices and
forgave all the sins that we have done, he did all that, but he didn’t ask for anything
in return. In the Church’s teaching it states that “A Church where nobody is so poor
as to have nothing to give, and nobody so rich as to have nothing to receive.” It
means that there is nobody that is so poor that they have nothing to give or share
and nobody is too rich to receive nothing. We want peace in our own country so if I
were to connect the Gospel Story to the Church’s teaching, I would say that we give
without asking for anything in return. We receive without expecting more just
because we gave more, it doesn’t mean that we must receive more too. Just like
Jesus did, he sacrifice and did good things to us, but he did not ask for something in
return. He gave because he cares for us, (his people).

e. PROCESSING:

1. Based on the story in Luke 24: 13-35, what was the reason behind the disciples not
recognizing Jesus? When did they finally recognized Him (Jesus)?
 Based on the story of Luke 24: 13-35, the reason why that they did not recognized
him is because of their belief that everything that he said was all a lie. They thought
that he was lying about being resurrected after all the sacrifices that he made for
them. They don’t have faith. As they all walked to the village and sat down at the
table, Jesus took the bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them, in that
very moment they realized that Jesus was right there in front of them. It is important
to have faith in Jesus, that’s the lesson of the story in Luke 24: 13-35.

2. Following still the story to the Road to Emmaus especially on the reaction of disciples
towards the end of the story when they finally recognized Jesus, what is the clear invitation
of Jesus, the risen Christ to us as his followers today?
 His clear invitation was to follow him. It is just right to give our trust to him. After all
the suffering that he went through, Jesus died to forgive all the sins that we have
done. By doing so, it is his way of showing how much he cares for us. He resurrected
to show and to make everyone believe that everything that he ever said and did was
all true. He did not mind that the people did not recognized him at first, as long as
they know the importance of Jesus’ sacrifice. He taught us to believe, care for
everyone and forgive those who has done us wrong.

 #Contentment&Gratefulness
 I’ve learned so many things in this session, the important was to believe in Him (Jesus).
He sacrificed and taught us how to believe in our self, in him and in everyone. He taught
us to care and be grateful for the things that God has given us. Also, to forgive the
people who has done us wrong. I just realized that the things that I went through and
learned are all valid. Everything that we face was just a test for us to learn. I must or
everyone must be contented in what we have. It doesn’t mean that even though we
came from a broken family, we can’t buy the things that we want, we can’t achieve all
of our goals, even if our loved ones leave us, and we cry most of the time, we should
always think positive and look at the brighter side. God is always there for us and he
created us. For him we are all perfect, so we don’t need to overthink that there is
always a missing part in our life.

Answer the following questions briefly:

1. What was the message of the video? Do you agree with them? Why or why not?
 The video is for the people who will vote for the incoming election day in our country,
Philippines. The message of the video was for us to vote right for the sake of our people,
our country and our future. It is our responsibility to vote for the rightful leaders. The
leaders who will protect and keep us safe. The video also tells us the right steps to pick
the right leaders that we are going to vote. Three steps were said in the video, step one
is to see. To see what is really happening in our country, we already know what is right
and wrong, and our country is currently facing corruption, poverty, violence that lead to
the death of many Filipinos. If we are going to vote we should vote for the ones that will
prevent those things and prioritize the welfare of others. The second step is to judge.
Judge the candidates based on what are the good things that they have already did in
our country, their ability and knowledge to make law and lead right and their character
(it is not right that the people who cause the problems of the country, lead us). The last
step is the act to vote right. Vote for the leaders who is worthy to make law and the
ones who never fails to listen to his/her people. The leader who can be the voice of
many Filipinos. I agree to all the things that the video convey us, because as a
student/youth of this country it is my right and my fellow Filipinos to secure our safety
and our future. It is our responsibility to use our power to vote for leader who prioritize
the sake of God and all Filipinos.

2. Aside from what was given, list down 3-5 significant qualities of leader you think we need
today?
 Aside from the achievements, abilities and knowledge that the leader has in order to
lead. I think having the
 Confidence – that he/she can do it. They must believe in their selves so that
their subordinates can follow and trust them.
 Passion – to do amazing and good things that will benefit many people. The love
for their work that can achieves a goal.
 Honesty – to tell what they really want and their honesty if they did something
wrong. If they want to be trusted by the people, they must be honest.
 Innovation – to make better solutions for the problems that the country is
facing.
 Strong communication – with their people. It is right to listen to their people’s
opinions and suggestions. Having a clear conversation can lead to a good
relationship and can successfully achieve a goal.

are the qualities that we need in our leader for them to make the country a better place.

3. What is the role of the youth (even the non-voters yet) in the process of electing leaders for
our nation?
 Youth plays a very important role to our society. It is their responsibility to protect
their environment and follow the laws. But when it comes to the process of electing
leaders for our nation, youth has the power to vote for the leaders who are worthy to
become a leader. They have a major role in nation building. Youths are not only the
future leaders but also the partners of today. They are the ones who will help to the
change the world and become a better place. For the sake of their future youth
should choose and vote right, because their future depends on their hands. Even non-
voters can also help in terms of advocating and encouraging specially the one who is a
voter, to vote the one who is capable and worthy for the position. Sharing some
insights to their fellow youth gives a lot of help. It is right that they understand the
decisions to be made regarding the welfare of the people. If everyone could use their
power and knowledge to pick for the one who can listen to the voices of the youths
and the people, our country will no longer face too much poverty, corruption and
deaths.

11. LOG-IN: Read this Gospel story John 13:1-17

 Done.
12. LOADING: Answer the following questions:

1. What do you think Jesus was trying to teach us by washing His disciples’ feet?
 On the evening before Jesus’ death, he is having a meal with his disciples and in that
moment, he knew that someone will betray him. The next thing that Jesus did is he
wrapped a towel around his waist, poured a water into the basin and began to wash his
disciples’ feet. But as soon as Jesus came to Peter, he asked and refuses to get wash by
Him. Then Jesus said that “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”, Peter
immediately said that Jesus can wash his hand and his head. When he had finished
washing all his disciples’ feet, he said that “I have set you an example that you should do
as I have done for you.” It means that Jesus did that to show his love for his people, that
if he can do it, his followers can also do the same. Jesus washed the feet of Judas who
betrayed him and Peter who denied him. To love one another builds a community even
as it confronts the failings of its members, even if people do terrible or bad things to
you, remember that Jesus did not do the same, instead he continue to love them. It
teaches us that we need to continue sharing the love we also received from Christ. If he
unconditionally serves his followers in a lowly human task, those disciples should follow
his example and be willingly to perform even the most unpleasant tasks to other people.

2. In what can you imitate Jesus in his act of washing the disciple’s feet in your life today?
 Jesus washed his disciples’ feet as an act for his love to them. If I were to imitate Him in
my life today, I will listen to every opinion that the people say today. As an act of love, I
will become a good listener. A lot of people experienced having an anxiety and
depression. A lot of them needs a person who can listen and understand what they feel.
Listening to them is my act of love. I chose it because nowadays people tend to do the
things they want. Even if they hurt people, they continue to do it. They become selfish
to the point that opinion of others doesn’t matter anymore. No one dares to speak up
because no one dares to listen. If I continue to do it, people will do the same. Jesus
always listen when we pray, it is our duty to do the same.

10. SIGN-OFF:
1. Describe using a word how the song communicates with you.
 Faith is the word how the song communicates to me. "Ikaw ang dulo, ang gitna't
simula." That lyrics of the song was pertaining to our creator, our God. Our life begins
and ends with Him. Wherever we go God will be always by our side and he will never
leave us. The songs tell us that no matter how many problems we face, no matter what
happens in our life it may be negative or positive, no matter how devastated or lost we
are we should always remember that God is there to help us. He helped me to get to the
right track, he will never give me problems that I cannot handle and I know that no
matter how many bad things that I do God will always be there to love me. Wherever I
go or whatever I do I know that I’ll always find my way back to him because I have faith
in Him.

2. How God instrumental in your journey in Senior High School (SHS)?

 God was like my medicine in my journey in SHS because I faced too many problems, it
was like I was riding in a roller coaster, it was full of ups and downs. Every time that I felt
tired and pain, I always talk to him by praying and I thanked him for waking me up every
day even if sometimes I don’t want to. I know he listens and give me the things I ask
from him. God was like my vitamins whenever I was feeling down or tired, he gives me
strength to survive the day and pain reliever whenever I feel pain and stressed caused
by the unending deadlines, exams and homework. But I know that these challenges that
I faced was a test by him so I can prepare myself for the future.

3. To recognize Jesus in our journey is a humbling experience, explain the word of Pope
Francis about humility “If there is no humility, love remains blocked.”
 Pope Francis tell us that humility is very important. Humility helps us to be more
compassionate and forgiving. To the point that we humans seeks for the best in
others and we think that we don’t deserve God’s blessings. Humility helps us to see
the truth and developed our self by loving God unconditionally also the people
around us, we love them how we love God. With humility, there is always love.

4. What is the invitation of Jesus to you as you start new life after SHS?
 He gave me a test before I was about to enter SHS life. It was the time that I was about
to choose whether I continue to go to school and continue my SHS or I stop so that I can
save money for my heart surgery. I chose to continue school because God gave me
strength, he showed me that I can survive SHS by trusting him everything. And when I
start SHS life, I always know that he is always there for me because I managed to
balance my time and passed all my subjects. He taught me that every hard work there is
always a payoff. He taught me how to fight the problems that I encountered during my
SHS and the experiences that I faced will be always a guide for me in the future.

6. LOG-OUT: Attach a picture of your most memorable SHS journey so far.

 Retreat 2018 at Caleruega
It was my memorable SHS journey because I got to spend my days with my friends. And the
most important was I became more focused to God and the good things that he did and gave in my life. I
realized so many things during my time in retreat. It was also the time that I felt more relaxed and
happier.
