Nikolaos Maniotis is applying for a tenure track position in nanomagnetism, 2D materials, molecular magnetism and quantum technologies at INSA Toulouse. He received his PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where his dissertation focused on numerical simulation and characterization of systems for magneto-thermal and magneto-mechanical interaction with living matter. Currently he is a postdoc researcher modeling the electrical and magneto-thermal properties of composite nanomaterials for biomedical applications such as magnetic particle hyperthermia. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications and believes his research background in computational modeling of electromagnetic interactions with biological systems and magnetism make him a strong candidate.

Laboratory
Dear of Physics and Chemistry of Nano-Objects
Hiring Committee,

I am writing to apply for the Tenure track position, in the field of «nanomagnetism, 2D materials, molecular
magnetism and Quantum technologies», as advertised on the EMA website. My name is Nikolaos Maniotis
and I am a Doctor of the Department of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) with a
postgraduate degree in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies. My doctoral dissertation at the Department of
Physics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is entitled “Numerical simulation and characterization of
systems for Magneto-thermal and Magneto-mechanical interaction with the living matter”.
I am currently working as a post doc researcher in the scientific program "Nanocomposite vectors of dual
imaging capacity with simultaneous therapeutic action for neoplastic cells". This research is co-financed by
Greece and the European Union (European Social Fund- ESF) through the Operational Programme «Human
Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning 2014- 2020». My role in this project is the
theoretical modelling, through micro-magnetic simulations, of the electrical and magneto-thermal properties
of composite nanomaterials and their evaluation for biomedical applications such as the magnetic particle
hyperthermia.
During my PhD Thesis and post doc research I have also being involved in mentoring undergraduate students
in simulation techniques, data collection, analysis and writing. I look forward to individual conferences with
students, ascertaining their research direction and assisting in the composition of their theories and
experiments. Simultaneously, I teach in the coaching school “Syghrono” various academic courses such as
Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics, Calculus, Solid State Physics and Electromagnetic Theory, to the
students of Physics and engineering departments. I seek to engage students by examining ways they can
actively participate in class discussions, often using app technology and new collaborative platforms.
I believe that my previous teaching experience, partnered with my research background in (a) computational
modelling of the electromagnetic field interactions with biological systems and (b) Magnetism and magnetic
materials theory make me a strong candidate for the position. As my Curriculum Vitae demonstrates, I have
authored and co-authored scientific works that have been (and are about to be) published in international
peer-reviewed journals which made me capable of handling multiple projects based on a team spirit.
I have enclosed my curriculum vitae, research statements and interests and publications list,. I would enjoy
discussing this position with you in the weeks to come. If you require any additional information, please feel
free to contact me. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nikolaos Maniotis
