Talking about the future:

1. present simple + adverb de viitor I go shopping tomorrow = Merg la cumparaturi/ Voi merge…
2. present continuous + adverb de viitor
3. “will” future (simple/continuous) = echivalentul viitorului romanesc cu “eu voi…..”
4. “going to” future = viitorul intentiei = “a avea de gand sa….. “I’m gonna go”
5. “be about” future = viitorul imediat
6. viitorul continuu (actiuni in derulare in viitor)

1. We use the present simple for something scheduled, planned: IT CANNOT BE CHANGED !!!!!!

We have an English lesson next Monday. (every Monday = present simple) = Vom avea ora de engleza lunea
viitoare.
The train arrives at 6.30 in the morning. = Trenul va sosi la ora 6.30 dimineata.
The holidays start next week.
It's my birthday tomorrow.

2. We can use the present continuous for personal plans or arrangements: IT CAN BE CHANGED !!!!

What are you doing tomorrow?

I'm playing football tomorrow.

They are coming to see us tomorrow.
We're having a party at Christmas.

The train leaves at 5.

! We are leaving at 5.

3. We use shall/will: “neutral” future I’ll go to…. You’ll…. He’ll….

 when we express beliefs about the future: predictions : It will rain tomorrow.
It will be a nice day tomorrow.
I think Brazil will win the World Cup.
I'm sure you will enjoy the film.

 to mean want to or be willing to:

I hope you will come to my party.
George says he will help us.

 to make offers and promises :

I'll see you tomorrow. See you tomorrow! See you next Monday! See you in 3 weeks!
We'll send you an email.

 to talk about offers and promises:

Tim will be at the meeting.
Mary will help with the cooking.
 !!!!!!! Viitor neprevazut, folosit pentru o activitate neprevazuta: I’ll go and buy some. (decizie luata in
momentul vorbirii)

4. We use to be going to + verb: = a avea de gand sa……. (viitorul popular in romana = o sa……) = viitorul
intentiei! I’m gonna do this.

You’re going to…..+ verb I’m going to go to the cinema.

6. We use will be with an -ing form for something happening before and after a specific time in the future:
This time tomorrow/next week, I’ll be flying to London.
I'll be working at eight o'clock. Can you come later?
They'll be waiting for you when you arrive.

7. We can use will be with an -ing form instead of the present continuous or be going to when we are talking
about plans, arrangements and intentions:
They'll be coming to see us next week.
I'll be driving to work tomorrow.

10. We can use should if we think there's a good chance of something happening:

We should be home in time for tea.
The game should be over by eight o'clock.Talking about the future 1

The future in time clauses (when?) and if-clauses

In time clauses with words like when, after, until we always use present tense forms to talk about the future:
I'll come home when I finish work.(Present!!!!) = Voi veni cand VOI termina treaba. FARA WILL !!!!
You must wait here until your father comes.

In clauses with if we often use present tense forms to talk about the future:
We won't be able to go out if it is raining.
If Barcelona lose tomorrow, they won’t be champions. (team, police, audience, family….)

In propozitiile de timp (cele care raspund la intrebarea Cand?) NU se foloseste niciodata viitorul (cu will) ci doar
PRESENT!

1. Voi veni cand voi avea timp = I’ll come when I have time. (present!!!!)

La fel, in propozitiile conditionale (introduse prin IF=daca) :

2. Voi veni daca imi voi termina temele = I’ll come if I finish my homework. (present!!!)

! Nu stiu daca voi veni. = I don’t know if I’ll come.
