ABHAY 12R210: Avionics Requirement Sheet
Features:
Collision Avoidance:
The mission may not always be in a known terrain, an unknown terrain can bring many flight
challenges and one of the very threatening challenges is the incoming obstacles. So the system
needs to be build self-sufficient to avoid obstacles in order to save the system but still completes the
mission.
Manual Control:
The platform is fully autonomous but having a manual control of aircraft gives it an added reliability.
So, the platform should have a provision to be controlled by the pilot at any point of time in a
mission and in some cases, the entire mission. Situation where the aircraft is not in line of sight
should be handled.
Precision Landing:
As it is said earlier the terrain might be unknown and so does the landing area. The place might be
confined and landing such big aircraft is a challenge, precision landing ensures safety during landing
in such places. Proximity sensors may be required to on all axes to determine the accurate distance
of the aircraft from the ground and the walls.
Camera Control:
Flight may not always be autonomous, during manual control the pilot needs to be aware of the
surroundings of the aircraft at all time with no interference in the feed or controlling the camera, no
matter if it is day or night. The camera should be completely controllable (tilt and pan, zoom is not
required).
It is very likely that the line of sight operation in the mountainous region may not happen. The
communication system, which includes video, control and data, should be such that link is never
broken between the aircraft and the ground station, if feasible.
At such extreme cold temperature, operating electronic devices are very difficult because operators
wear heavy winter gears. So, a system with good ergonomics at such temperature is an added
feature as it saves time planning a mission and it saves the individual from frustration of operating at
critical time in such harsh environment.
