Department of Education: Republic of The Philippines

This document outlines a proposed action research project to improve students' skills in a Philippine school. It provides context for the study, including legal justifications and current student performance data. The project will use an educational intervention with 40 sixth grade students from October to December 2020. Students will complete a pre-test before the intervention and a post-test after to determine its effectiveness. Statistical analysis will compare test scores and evaluate the intervention's impact. The proposal details ethical considerations, data collection procedures, and a work plan timeline for conducting the research.

I. Context and Rationale

Tips in writing this part:

 Begin with your OWN idea and not with a quote or anything

lifted or cited from another author.

 Cite at least two (2) Legal Bases as you explain the rationale or

the underlying reason why you are conducting the research. It

can be a Republic Act, a DepEd Order or Memorandum.

 Highlight the context (setting or background) of your study,

“what’s happening in your school/classroom?” Use quantitative

data like the results of your Item Analysis or qualitative data like

preliminary interview, anecdotal records or observations relative

to your research problem. You may present one (1) table or

graph of your Item Analysis.

 A 1-2 page (Font: Bookman Old Style, 1.5 spacing, 11) Context

and Rationale is enough.

 End this chapter with a paragraph stating your general objective

or aim and citing the “intervention” that you will use and the

competency that you aim to improve.

II. Action Research Questions

This action research aims to improve the competency of Grade

________learners in (learning competency) through the use of

(intervention).

Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:

1. What is the mean score of the learners in the pretest and posttest before

and after using the (intervention)?

2. Is there a significant difference between the pretest and post test scores

of the pupils after the implementation of (intervention) in their

performance?

3. What is the effect size of the (intervention) in improving the competency

of Grade 6 pupils in (learning competency)?

III. Proposed Innovation, Intervention, and Strategy

Tips in writing this part:

 Begin by introducing your intervention. Brief explanation of its origin (if

adopted) and the acronym (if applicable).

 Highlight the intervention by stating (1) what it is; (2) how it is used

(details of how the intervention will be implemented or how the student

will use the intervention); (3) when (schedule) or how long will you

implement the intervention; and (4) how will you monitor and evaluate

the use of the intervention. It is always better to state, WHY?

 If you will be adopting intervention, cite the original author or creator

and discuss the modifications you made or introduce to suit the users of

the intervention.

 Include IATF protocol.

IV. Action Research Methods

a. Participants and /or Other Sources of Data Information

The participants are the 19 boys and 21 girls or a total of 40

pupils enrolled in Grade 6 for the School Year 2020-2021 in Minanga

Elementary School. The sources of data are the pre-test and post test result.

This will be interpreted and analyzed.

b. Data Gathering Procedure

After securing the necessary approval from the school authorities,

School Research Committee, and parents/guardian, this research proposal

will be implemented.

Total enumeration of the participants will be used in gathering the

data. The data gathering period for the administration pre-test,

implementation of the intervention and post-test will be done from Monday

to

Friday from October 12, 2020 to December 11, 2020. The leaners will take

the pre-test and scores will be recorded and tabulated. Then, the

intervention will be implemented after the pre-test. (Intervention) will be

utilized as intervention in Grade ___________ lesson particularly (learning

competency). Post-test will be administered after implementation of the

intervention. After tabulating and analyzing the scores and answers,

results, discussion and reflection will be written to complete the study.

c. Ethical Issues
Letter of intent to conduct the research will be sent to the proper

school authorities. Letter of consent will be sent to parents of target

participants of the study. Only those leaners who will be allowed by their

respective parents’ or guardians’ will be included in the study. Identities of

the leaners will not be revealed. Results and participants’ responses will be

reported and presented as a whole to further protect their anonymity. Other

ethical issues prescribed in Research Management Guidelines under DepEd

Order No. 16, s. 2017 will be followed.

d. Data Analysis Plan

To determine if the CLASH-VClip is effective in enhancing the

competencies in separating mixtures of the Grade 6 pupils, the following

statistical treatment will be used:

1. Mean and standard deviation will be used to analyse the pretest

and posttest scores administered before and after the use of

(intervention).

2. Paired sample t-test to determine if there is a significant difference

between the mean pretest and posttest scores of the learners; and

3. Cohen’s D will be used to analyse the effect of the (intervention)

as an intervention in improving the learning competencies in

(learning competency).
