Pacific Ring of Fire Essay

There are two main theories about volcano formation: hotspots and subduction. Hotspots form when rock melts in the mantle, creating magma and volcanoes on tectonic plates. Subduction occurs at convergent plate boundaries, when one plate slides under another into the mantle. Most volcanoes are located along the Pacific Ring of Fire near the Pacific Ocean. The Ring of Fire volcanoes are dangerous because their thick, silica-rich lava flows slowly and builds tall, steep stratovolcanoes. Plate tectonics, including movements of oceanic and continental crust, cause volcanism along plate boundaries through processes like subduction.

There are two theories about how the volcanoes are formed.

The first theory is about the hotspots it is

forms in the middle of the tectonic plates and that it produces an active volcanoes at the earth surface.
The hotspots are located in the mantle where the rocks melt and then later on it will form a magma and
the second theory is the subduction or trench it occurs when the sea floor moves and slides down under
the land and that it takes place at the convergent boundaries in which tectonic plated moves over
another tectonic plate that sinks into the mantle and that both plates include the oceanic and continental
crust. Most of the volcanoes are located in the pacific ring of fire near the pacific ocean where hundreds
of volcanoes are located in the pacific ocean. Many eruptions have occurred in different countries . A
stratovolcano is a type of volcanoes that are mostly located near the pacific ring of fire and that a blocky
lava flow of the volcanoes is a clue as to why the pacific ring of fires are so dangerous.it is the thick
magma of the lava that can determine that the volcanoes contains silica and that the more silica it
contains the more viscous it will be. The ring of fire volcanoes are rich in silica which results to creating a
tall shape stratovolcanoes and that the molten rocks which is called magma gases as the magma rises it
will have a smoke or bubbles appear that will occur to have a dangerous explosion when it will erupt and
that gases of volcanoes contain carbon 12 where tiny organism called phytoplankton are located in that
carbon 12 and as they grow they will contain carbon 12 on the cell and that when they die they lie down
in the sediment which is located in the ocean floor. The sea floor sediment contain sea water that can
cause rocks to melt and below that can cause magma on the volcanoes and that which leads us to the
subduction. These boundaries mark the collision between two of the tectonic plates it is where two
tectonic plates meets at the subduction zone. The tectonic plates include oceanic and continental crust.
The continental crust usually is much denser that can cause it to sink under the mantle which causes it
to slide down the oceanic crust. The evidence of plate movements is caused by a continental drift theory
which was a theory by Alfred Wegner the tectonic plates can move in three ways either they move
together, apart ,or move past each other the between plates are called plate boundaries.there are three
main types of plate boundaries which is convergent boundaries where two plates are colliding ,divergent
boundaries where two plates are moving apart and transform boundaries where plates slide past each
other as plates over they create breaking of the earth’s crust which creates faults . The pacific ring of fire
mostly consists on the volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis
