Reflective Essay

The student learned that accounting information systems with SAP are important to accounting. While the subject was challenging and required a deeper level of understanding, the student felt online learning made it difficult to grasp the concepts. The scope of the course was relevant for becoming a CPA in the future, and helped develop the student's critical thinking and problem solving skills. What is the most important knowledge were you able to generate from taking Accounting
Information System with SAP? Please explain.

The important knowledge that I was able to generate from taking the subject is the
importance of the accounting information system with sap to accounting in general. Taking the
subject was a challenge, especially that the subject is in need of a deeper understanding and
needed to be taught carefully, for it serves as a foundation for our higher accounting. The
learning was a lot harder in the online setup, but overall, I still learned something and it’s that.

2. Did the subject meet your expected learning outcomes? Why/why not?

If I were to be honest, I don’t think that the subject met my expected learning outcomes,
and it’s not because of the professor for not teaching us properly, it’s the setup. Since the subject
is in need of a deeper understanding and analyzing, it’s needed to be taught properly where
students would pay all their attention and understand the lessons properly and I believe only face
to face class setups could do that. We did learn, but it’s not enough.

3. Were the contents/scope of the subject relevant to your objective? (e.g. to become CIA,
CPA, ACCA etc.) Why/why not?

Yes, because the scope of the subject was just what I think we needed to know in order to
be able to prepare ourselves for the higher accounting which I could take with me when I
become a CPA in the future.

4. Did the subject develop your competencies?

1. Persuasive Communication. No

4. Intellectual Curiosity. Yes

5. Responsible Digital Citizenship. No

6. Professionalism. Yes

Why/why not?
The subject helped me a lot with problem solving and critical thinking to be specific
because that’s what the subject is all about. It also helped me to be professional enough with
doing all the activities given to us. However, it didn’t help me with persuasive communication
and responsible digital citizenship because I got to learn that in my other subjects and it’s not the
focus of this subject specifically.

5. Did the subject encourage the students’ active involvement in learning? Why/why not?

It did, because everyone wants to excel especially with the subject that would help us in
our actual jobs in the future, taking this course is about learning of how to become successful in
our chosen profession, and learning how to do our jobs well is what will make us become
successful. Thus, this subject was one of the things we needed to learn in order for us to do our
jobs well in the future and become a successful CPA.
