Cummins: Fault Code: 375 PID: P0602, S254 SPN: FMI: 2

The ECM contains the fuel calibration to control engine performance. Fault code 375 indicates the fuel calibration in the ECM has been corrupted or tampered with. To resolve, recalibrate the ECM with the latest calibration code. Check for signs of tampering on the engine harness or fuel pump. Clear the fault code after recalibration to complete the repair.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) FUEL

CUMMINS CALIBRATION CORRUPTED

FAULT CODE: 375

PID: P0602, S254
SPN:
FMI: 2

Electronic Control Module

DESCRIPTION
The ECM contains the calibration-specific parameter to control the
engine's performance and diagnostics. The fuel pump has its own
calibration to interpret the ECM message and control the pump. If
the fueling calibration in the ECM is altered or tampered with, this
fault will be logged.
This fault code is meant to detect out-of-range values and protect
the fuel pump from excessive duty cycles from illegal calibration
tampering.
If this code is active or has high inactive counts, the fuel pump
control module has detected an out-of-range value commanded by
the ECM. Recalibrate the ECM.
COMPONENT LOCATION
The logic for the fault code is contained in the ECM circuitry.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS
Step 1A) Turn key switch ON and check to see if the fault code is active at engine start-up. Read the fault
codes using the diagnostic tool.
Fault Code 375 inactive?

Yes - Go to applicable fault code(s) No - Go to 2A

Step 2A) Disconnect the engine harness from the fuel pump. Turn key switch ON and measure the supply
voltage to the fuel pump while cranking the engine. Measure the supply voltage from pin 7 of the VP44 fuel
pump harness connector to engine block ground.

6.5 to 18 VDC (12-VDC system)

8 to 18 VDC (during cranking)

Yes - Go to 3A No - Go to 6A

Step 3A) Turn key switch OFF and install the VP44 fuel pump diagnostic tool, Part Number 3163834, to
check the operation of the fuel pump. Make certain that the air has been vented from the system before
using the diagnostic tool.
Engine starts and runs in idle mode?

Yes - Go to 4A No - Go to 6A

Step 4A) Turn key switch OFF and disconnect the engine harness from the ECM. Disconnect the engine
harness from the VP44 fuel pump. Inspect the engine harness and fuel pump solenoid leads for tampering.
Make certain that no aftermarket performance upgrade kits have been installed on the vehicle.

No signs of tampering?

Yes - Go to 5A No - Correct the problem

Go to 6A

Step 5A) Turn key switch OFF and disconnect the engine harness from the ECM. Disconnect the engine
harness from the VP44 fuel pump. Turn key switch OFF and recalibrate the ECM with updated calibration
code. Refer to the diagnostic tool manual for the appropriate procedure.

ECM recalibrated with updated code and Fault Code 375 goes inactive?

Yes - Calibrations are available on the latest ESDN No - Go to 6A

Step 6A) Connect all components. Turn key switch ON and disable the fault code. Start the engine, and let it
idle for 1 minute. Verify Fault Code 375 is inactive.

Fault Code 375 inactive?

Yes - Go to 6B No - Return to the troubleshooting steps, or contact a

Cummins Authorized Repair Location if all the steps
have been completed and rechecked
Go to 1A

Step 6B) Connect all components. Turn key switch ON and clear the inactive fault codes using the
diagnostic tool.
All fault codes cleared?

Yes - Repair is complete No - Troubleshoot any remaining active fault codes

with appropriate troubleshooting steps.
