Assignment #2 - Element, Medium, Principle, Style and Subject of Art: Artwork Critiquing `

The painting depicts the fruits as what I see it gives


highlight to the fruit in the basket.the artist makes gritty
approach,showing sagging grapes and even sign of
fruitful idea (the basket is full of fruits). Perhaps this is a
symbolic of fruitful life.This is a drawing in the medium
of pencil and crayon, the use of stroke of pencil to form
a shadow and a sketchy lining.while the shapes,space
and form of the art is incline with each other as you can
see the imperfection of shapes of fruits shows reality, I
like the light coloring of the fruit also the light side of the
banana.But I see some strokes are not right on place it
makes the arts filthy.Basket of Fruit is a beautiful display
of repetition and pattern,Notice the circular fruit and
the woven basket.This is very pleasing on the eye as it
creates a sense of sequence throughout the
painting.From a composition standpoint, the
background plays the all-important role of simplification,
giving our eyes a place to rest from artist intricate detail
work on the basket of fruit.

The painting is a friendly bird in a tree at a rainbow. This
art is different because it used only black color for the
subject to make it stand-up. Bird show freewill and
rainbow express hope. This artwork represent a
freedom,The art used oil pastel color because as you can
see in the shading and blending of the colors in the
background you can feel that it was seaming less that’s
how oil pastel are made of its covers all the empty
spots.The branch of the tree is different from each other
because of this thickness also the shading of the rainbow .
The proportion of the sequence in the background is not
equal because some are thin and some are thick.The space
is well covered also the there is no white space except the
eyes of the birds. The line’s in the between the branches
and leaves are good also it was a repeating kind of lines
that used for every branch.
