Grade 3

I. Learning Competency:
Objectives: End of the lesson the pupils will be able to:
1. Read cvc words with –am family.
2. Read phrases with -am family

II. Lesson: Read cvc words with –am family.


Materials: pictures, power point presentation
Strategy: choral reading, The hot seat, Visual Imagery
III. A. Preliminary Activities
1. Motivation
The teacher will tell a short story with a title, “Where is my ham?”
The teacher will ask questions after the story.

Where is my ham?

Look! I see a big yam. I like yam with a ham.


There is no ham. Where is my ham?
Look! The ram has my ham.
I found my ham.

1. What did I see that is big?


2. What food did I want to find?
3. Who has my ham?

2. Presentation of the lesson


The teacher will present the objective.
The teacher will introduce the final letter –am.
The teacher will give the sounds of the final letter –am.

B. Vocabulary Development

Have the pupils identify the pictures. The teacher will write/show and read the
words with the pupils.
C. Learning Activities

A. The teacher will say again the names of each pictures and sound the final lettes –
am very well. She/He also tells the pupils the word, and the same time she/he
shows a card bearing the letters –am. Tell the class that they all have final letter –
am.
B. Let the class/pupils give the sounds of each picture while the
teacher points the letter.

HAM YAM RAM

C. Let the pupils give other words with final sounds –am.
Example:

DAM JAM
D. Let the pupils read some phrases and sentences with the words
bearing final sounds –am.
