Lesson: Mixtures and Their Characteristics

Mixture
- Is a combination of two or more substances
- Example: ‘slime’ because it is made of dishwashing, glue and borax

Types of Mixture
1. Homogenous – once you mix the two or more substance it will blend and can be seen as once substance.
(example; Chocolate drinks, slime, perfume)
2. Heterogenous – once you mix the two or more substance you can still see the substance. (example; halo-halo,
fruit salad)

Homogenous Mixture

 Solution – where the substances are evenly mixed.


 Solute – substance that dissolves or seems to disappear.
 Solvent – the one that dissolves.
 In water and salt the salt will be dissolve through water. Salt – solute & Water – solvent.
 Solubility – property of solutes

Types of Homogenous Mixtures


1. Solid Homogenous Mixtures
2. Liquid Homogenous Mixtures
3. Gaseous Homogenous Mixtures

Heterogenous or Non-uniform Mixture
