The hospitality industry is a broad category of fields within service industry that
includes lodging, event planning, theme parks, transportation, cruise line, and additional
fields within the tourism industry. The hospitality industry is a bustling industry with
myriad categories, but customer service is the unifying factor shared by all segments of
the industry. Different sectors of the hospitality industry ensure that traveler’s needs are
catered to in a holistic manner.

Tourism industry is and comprises of all the companies which provide the products and
services that are meant and used by tourists at different stages of travel and tourism. is
a very vast, vibrant, dynamic and growth oriented industry. Tourism as an industry is the
set of all business activities which serves the needs tourists while they visit different
places by way of tourism, touring or travelling. Tourism is in fact a very broad industry
comprises of different sectors or sub industries which produce and offer various similar
and different products and services which create the demand for tourism and actually
make the act of touring and travelling for tourism possible.

Tourism industry value chain is very large. This value chain of tourism industry is or can
be elastic and flexible and can also be much larger and widespread. Tourism and
hospitality has it’s own role to achieve it’s own goal. Tourism boosts the revenue of the
economy, creates thousands of jobs, develops the infrastructures of a country, and
plants a sense of cultural exchange between foreigners and citizens.

Hospitality industry comprises of a range of businesses that provide services and


facilities such as accommodation, food and beverage, entertainment, gaming and
related products.

There are four segments of the hospitality industry: Food and beverages, Travel and
Tourism, lodging, and recreation.

The history of tourism and hospitality is discussed in chapter 2. When the time that our
chapter 2 was being discussed. I realized that we must keep on remembering the past
and protect it, because we cannot continue our future if we can’t acknowledge and
protect the history of tourism and hospitality. So we must value the past of history
because without it there can never be in the future. In the time of (19th) century tourism

has been evolved, many positive changes for example, the increase in productivity,
regular employment, and growing urbanization gave more the people motivation and
opportunity to go on holidays.

Chapter 3 discusses the economics of tourism and hospitality

Hospitality Economics focuses on applying economic principles to analyze the


hospitality industry. You will learn how to use rigorous economic theories and models to
analyze the functioning of the hospitality industry and its current trends, Tourism is
critical in creating goodwill among people and, as a result, socioeconomic growth in the
country. Tourism as an industry contributes significantly to the country’s foreign
exchange reserves and provides direct and indirect job possibilities to a broad segment
of the population. Furthermore, supporting a nation’s handicrafts and fine arts aids in
the preservation of nature’s beauty, cultural legacy of the country, and soil tradition, as
well as strengthening the process of national integration and global brotherhood. For
analytical purposes, it is important to distinguish between different forms of tourism. For
example, tourism is often divided into two main categories: international tourism and
domestic tourism, which is determined by the tourist’s permanent residence’s territorial
limit. There is no minimum duration of travel required to qualify as a tour, and the
important component is the movement away from the permanent residence to the
destination or locations that are not in the same region. This article discusses the
importance of tourism and the hospitality industry in economic growth. Here are some of
the benefits of studying tourism and hospitality, in more details: No day is the same, the
flexible schedule, you can work locally or internationally, the opportunities are endlessly,
you become part of a legacy.
