1. Name the fundamental forces in nature. [10 x 1 =10 marks]

2. Define Astronomical unit. Give its value in metre.

3. Name the physical quantities whose dimensional formulae are as follows

13. A car ‘A’ moving at 14ms-1 on a straight road is ahead of car ‘B’ moving in
the same direction at 6ms-1.
Find the velocity of ‘A’ relative to ‘B’ and vice-versa. [ 2 marks]

14. State the principle of homogeneity of dimensions. [ 1 mark]

15.The student measured a thickness of a thin sheet with help of screw gauge.
The readings taken by him were 0.932 cm, 0.975 cm, 1.01 cm, 1.026 cm &
0.947 cm. Find the mean value of thickness, mean absolute error, fractional
error. [1 ½ marks]
Distinguish between scalars and vectors. [1 ½ marks]

16. Define parallax or parallactic angle. Explain the method of determining the
diameter of the natural satellite of the earth by the method of parallax. [3marks]

17. Derive the following equations of motion for uniformly accelerated motion
using velocity time graph
(i) v = u + at (ii) s = ut + ½ at2 (iii) v2 – u2 = 2as [ 5 marks]

18. Derive by the method of dimension, an expression for the volume of a liquid
flowing out per second through a narrow pipe. Assume that the rate of flow of
liquid depends on (i) coefficient of viscosity ’η’ of the liquid (ii) the radius of the
