Course Content Reflection

1. This semester, I studied a variety of approaches and principles for becoming a better mentor.

Some of the most important lessons I learnt were how I connected with people and led them.

In the investigation stage, I discovered that I am a leader and a considerate communicator.

These facts about myself will help me tailor my communication style to different mentees

and recognize how others perceive me in the role of mentor. In class, I learned how to assess

how you communicate and the leadership model, which provided me with tools to improve

myself as well as things to pass on to my mentees. I also discovered that the pupils I will

serve will come from a variety of backgrounds and will reflect diversity on many levels. I

also learned that I must tailor my meetings to their individual requirements and inquire about

their overall feelings.

2. I used to believe that simply being there for someone qualified you as a mentor. Through this

program, I have learned that mentoring entails providing both tools and guidance in order to

properly assist your mentee. A mentee relationship differs from a friendship connection in

several ways. The student forms a link with you as a result of your assistance, yet the student

holds you to higher standards than a friend would. I'm looking forward to mentoring next

semester because I want to improve my mentoring skills so that I can better assist my

mentees. By examining my mentoring behaviors objectively, I intend to become more

approachable to my mentees and a better meeting organizer.

3. I used to think mentoring was only about giving advise until I went to training at the start of

the semester. It's now clear to me that it's much more. You give guidance, but you also have

to provide tools to aid learners in a positive way. You must have an action plan and SMART

goals for the student in order to track their progress; otherwise, you will have no idea how

well they are doing or whether you are helping them or not. It is recommended that as a

mentor, you enhance the volume and quality of reading subject discussions with your

mentees, maintain high standards for text, conversation, questions, and vocabulary, and

ensure that they comprehend and are familiar with classroom instructions. It is also a good

idea to provide explicit teaching and practice in effective comprehension skills to mentees.

This will aid in the comprehension of classroom instructions.

4. There are so many techniques I have learned from this course. Among them id focusing on

fundamentals, which asserts to the students the essential needs in learning. Now I see that

your mentee is the best person to bring a fresh perspective on the course fundamentals. They

have no emotional attachment to what you have built for your course at this point. As a

result, they can more easily pinpoint the main concepts without bias. I have also personalized

the experience such that, little things mattes most especially when the stress level during

work time elevates. Understanding so will help address the details in ways as I get to learn

more about them. To further help improve the teaching methods, I think loosening the grip

can be an effective method. That is, the mentor and the mentee should both observe another

educator, preferably one who is not in the discipline. Observe the peers at work and be

inspired. It is not necessary for best practices to originate within the department. Concentrate

on areas other than content, such as instructor delivery, student involvement, and course

flow. Discover a new technique for your bag of tricks by working as a team with the mentee.
