Lesson 1: Listening
I. Aims of the lesson
1. Objectives:
Knowledge:
- Topic: World Population
- Vocabulary: Latin America, improvement, particularly, punishment , rank, generation.
Skills: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to listen to the story betweeen an inteviewer and Dr
Brown about world population.
- Ss know more about the distribution of population in different parts of the world
- Ss improve listening skill for main ideas and specific information by multiple choice, fill
the blank, matching sentence endings.
Quality: Students have serious learning attitude, love leaning English, energetically and actively
participate in learning acitivity.
II. Teaching equipments and learning materials.
Teacher: Textbook, powerpoint file, computer, cassette player.
Students: pens, text book.
III. Teaching process
1. Activity 1: Warm up (5mins)
a. Objective: help students identify and understand the topic of the lesson.
b. Content: Students watch a video about World Population By Continent and answer the
questions.
c. Outcome: Get students involved in the topic.

2. Activity 2: Teaching vocabulary (Before you read) (8 mins)


a. Objective: Provide Ss some new words
b. Content: teacher provides Ss some newwords and explains the meaning of the words
c. Outcome: Students get the words, their pronunciation and meaning
d. Organization of implementation

b. Content: students listen to the interview, find the evidence in the interview, then choice the best
answer.
