Task 2
Choose 1 among the different management practices that will fit to your
personality and at the same time will support to the kind of management needed
in the organization where you belong. Explain why?

Motivating Employees
Because of my strong character, this practice will surely fit my personality.
My line of work is quite stressful because of the many works that need to be
done. And sometimes, this stresses made teachers to frown. And motivation is
likewise needed to counterbalance the tension. Even tasks are very hard to do, if
there is someone or something that can make someone smile even for a while will
surely lessen the burden. I can proudly say that I can make people smile, and I
can even make myself happy in times of stressful days. These characters were
loved by many. I also motivate my colleagues to exert not the second best but
really the best of the best. A simple word of encouragement and a tap on the back
means a lot to them.

Task 3

Recall situations regarding management where you experienced the application

of the fourteen Principles of Management and explain how it was applied.

1. Division of work
I am the chairman of our grade level. So whenever tasks are given, I will
see to it that the tasks will be done not only by the most capable of doing it
but as well as each individual will do their part so that the best will be
expected. This will also train them to excel even this is their waterloo.

2. Authority
Indeed in my line of work, the immediate authority is the school head, the
principal herself. All the tasks need to be done come first to her office then,
through the master teachers and grade chairmen; it will be disseminated to
the person or people who were chosen to do the work.

3. Discipline
Discipline is needed to bring out the best in all aspects of life. As part of
the teaching profession, I always intend to teach discipline to my pupils. I
don’t only teach this but I see to it that my pupils will see discipline in my
actions. Just like the simple punctuality towards going to school. At this
pattern, they can learn it by example and then by doing it as well.

4. Unity of Command
In our organizational structure, the principal is the head of the school and it
is branched to different parts like the master teachers, guidance counsellor
and the grade chairmen. Now, if there is command that was given to
teachers, we will see to it that it came from our principal by looking on the
signature before doing a certain tasks. Master teachers and the grade
V

chairmen as well ask for the signature of the principal, if a task is given
through them.

5. Unity of Direction
Most of the time, our school garnered different citations on different work
done and accomplished. This is because of eyeing on one goal to the
other. Meaning, if something is ask to do, we will see to it that we are one in
doing it. Suggestions are free for expression for getting the best of the
work, but still the objectives should be followed.

6. Subordination of Individual Interest

The signed and agreed arrangement of both the authority and subordinates
are still given the power and influence. Although changes is the only
permanent thing on earth, the goals and objectives will make this be
directed to where it should be going.

7. Remuneration
Third week of the month is the most loved week of teachers. This is
because the time where we can get the compensation of our hardships.
This also motivates us to exert effort and not to stay on the mediocrity.
Other allowances like the city allowance given monthly also make us enjoy
the work we have.

8. Centralization (Decentralization)
Teaching and learning is the focus of this profession. Likewise, this is an
essential component of the process. The attribute the pupils possess will
determine the quality of the teachers to teach.

9. Scalar Chain
VI

The line of authority of my profession will start to the Secretary of the

Department of Education, then to the Superintendent of the Division, to the
Supervisors, to the principal, to the master teachers, to the grade chairmen
and last to the teacher. This is religiously followed by all under the
regulation of the department.

10. Order
In any organization, you cannot disregard miscommunications and
misunderstanding. But this does not mean that if these things happen, you
cannot solve the problem. In our school, the faculty voted for a Grievance
Committee which will implement the peace and order in the school and find
ways and solutions to conflicts.

11. Equity
ABES Faculty and other stakeholders treat different views and suggestions
equally and fairly. We practice honouring system to those making
suggestions and help to improve the said idea.

12. Stability of Tenure of Personnel

Unlike any other profession, teaching is one of the professions that have
its own security of tenure. A teacher like me would not be bothered of lay-
offs. Unless if I made mistakes to the extent of making me out of the
service, the job is there for me until I reach my 65 th birthday.

13. Initiative
Teachers should always make the first step to make things happens. In our
school, teachers were trained to initiate something worthwhile that will
increase the pupil development and increase the result of the Midyear and
Final Achievement Test.

14. Esprit de Corps

VII

Every grade level of ABES moves as one team. Each grade possesses a
distinct characteristic. For example, in grade four (which I belong), we
always see to it that the work and task entrusted to us will possess quality,
not only quality but the best of its quality. That’s why we always win any
school competition like cook fest, grade presentation for teachers’ day and
many others.
