Changing Matter
MODULE 2 Solid to Liquid
Introduction:
Did you know that matter can change its forms into another?
What do you think will happen if a solid object is placed under the heat? What
would happen next? An object can undergo different kinds of changes and these
changes may be physical or chemical changes. In this lesson you will know how
a solid object turns into a liquid object. Let’s find out!
Objectives:
Learners should be able to:
1. Describe the changes in materials based on the effect of
temperature (Solid to Liquid)
Vocabulary Words:
Melting is the process wherein a solid object turns into liquid by the
presence of heat.
For Example:
When you lit up a candle, the candle will turn into liquid by the
presence of heat. A candle is a solid object.
Activity 1:

Activity 2: Look at the items below. Which item changes its forms to a
liquid, when it is being placed under the heat. Check the box
beside the picture.
Activity 3: Encircle the objects that will melt under the heat of the sun.
Question: If you melt ice in the sun, what do you think you will get?

Activity 4: Gather the objects found in the chart below and let it under
the heat of the sun. Observe what will happen to the objects you
gather. Write your observations on the chart below.
What MELTS under the sun?
