Good Day, Ma’am Bev and Classmates so for today we’ll be taking about Informative Speech
But first, Have you ever obtained information from somewhere and wondered, "What were
they talking about?" " or "why is this important to me?" " We, too, have found ourselves
disoriented and puzzled after an informative presentation or a meeting interaction.

“What?" We ask ourselves this question frequently in response to information that we already
know about or it is presented in a confusing manner. In these case the information was
delivered ineffectively. That’s why in this lesson our objectives are;
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
Use the principle of effective speech writing focus on
• Audience profile
• Local organization
• Duration
• Word choice
• Grammatical correctness

Designed to provide interesting and useful information to a broad audience or a specific set of people.
Because one of the main goals of such a speech is to increase audience awareness, accurate, up-to-date,
and relevant facts that should be prioritized.

The main goal of an informative speech is to educate the audience about a topic that they are
completely new with.

Angela, I think a Good Informative Speech is Explaining the significance of the subject matter or topic
Moreover, keeping your audience's attention by displaying interest in the topic and properly expressing
its significance to them will keep them listening. Another technique to hold your audience's attention is
to show or convey your interest in what you are saying. It is important to keep in mind that you are
giving knowledge and describing true happenings.

One famous Example of a Good Speaker is

Edison is credited with the invention of the electharic light bulb. He was an inventor and businessman
who invented many other devices including the electric pen, phonograph, and even electric cir. Thomas
Edison died in 1931 at the age of 84. His last words were "The problem with other inventors is that they
attempt a few things and then quit, I don't give up until I have what I desire." He said.

Characteristics of an Informative Speech

For informative speeches, the term informative refers to something educational. Informative speeches
are those that are meant to teach a specific subject topic to a group of people. The audience is intended
to gain useful or engaging information on a specific topic or interest, such as today's significant
individuals or historically significant places, or any other subject matter that the audience may desire.

One aspect that distinguishes information speeches from other types of speeches is the topic or subject
matter. The ultimate purpose of informative presentations is to educate and teach the audience about
important and meaningful topics. When deciding on an objective and a topic, keep in mind that
informative speeches; clarify, define, declare, or explain their subject matter without taking sides or
displaying obvious biases. These types of speeches should not be used to persuade the audience to
change their minds or change the audience's attitude.

Informative speeches should contain correct data and relevant illustrations or examples. To hold your
audience's attention, make your transitions from one point to the next as obvious as possible because

In terms of structure or organization, informative speech, like any other style of speech, are divided into
three sections. They begin with an opening statement that describes the issue in an interesting manner.
The key points regarding the topic must be supported by sufficient information in the body. When
preparing an informative speech, you should thoroughly research the topic and organize the information
in a clear, logical manner. Creating a speech outline is a common way to accomplish this.

You can choose one of the few suggested strategies for organizing your informative speech to have a

Chronological; This type of method follows a times pattern procedure. It organizes facts, Incidents,
events or occasions based on progression of time or the order they happen in time.

process.

It organizes information based how things appear in physical space such as based on geography, floor
plans and instrument panels. It may also organized from a start point to end point, continuing

This type of method follows cause-effect relationship. It focuses on two main points, the cause of a
particular subject, and its effect to another.

This method of organization is used when presenting an idea that has several other sub-ideas. Clearly a
topical method organizes information based on different sub topics within a larger topic, or the ''types"
of things that fall within a bigger category.
