Experience Prompt

Prompt: How have you grown as a writer? If you haven't, why not?

This course has provided me with many opportunities for growth as a writer. As a student

in English classes before this, I would finish papers the night before the deadline. Using the

Socratic Method and writing source reviews, I have gained quite a bit of knowledge. I am not

one to really understand how to handle time while creating a large document. I often use the

library resources for research, such as the first-year research guide, to locate numerous credible

articles that I can use to study a variety of topics. As a habit, I always work on papers the night

before their due dates. Because of this mindset, I experience a lot of stress during the writing

process and have not been able to create a well-designed project. I enjoyed the writing

experience much more this time around since the documents required for the Document Analysis

had to be written over time. In the end, I produced content that was more effective - it exceeded

the requirements as well as meeting them. Being able to break down such large projects into

smaller pieces helped me feel relieved, and I was never stressed by it. With regards to my future

papers, I will follow the same strategy - managing my time better and cutting the expectations

into smaller chunks.

I will begin by providing evidence from the communications within my profession. The

source reviews I performed during my thesis allowed me to analyze my rhetorical situations

critically and actively as well as become a better researcher and writer. My writing furthered my

knowledge of the topic not only by summarizing and organizing these sources, but also by

mixing them with my own ideas. It's very analytical and precise, with a lot of information

presented. I expect that professionals in computer science will find my abstract interesting due to

the technical writing and unfamiliar terminology.

In the second part of my presentation, I will discuss how to appropriately analyze and

break down articles in one of my disciplines. Identifying the audience and analyzing the content

presented in the article, as well as identifying the impact of the author's rhetorical strategies,

helps us better understand how they deliver the message they intended. Being a student, I believe

these higher levels of thinking and analytical thinking can benefit me in many ways. By

incorporating all of the necessary factors, I was able to create a well-written article. I knew

exactly how to prepare for the assignment since I was familiar with the components required. I

would have been confused if I had been told to do the same thing before I completed the

Document Analysis. The Document Analysis project has strengthened my abilities as a writer.

In conclusion, I gained expertise in writing for different audiences within my field.

In addition, I gained a new understanding of what it means to learn through this experience, as

well as learned new writing skills of which I will be able to make use in my chosen career path.

Through this experience, I gained a new understanding of what it means to learn.  Throughout

the course, I have become a better writer, analyst, and student.
