Research Plan

Measure the Quality Assurance of Instructional Computer Programming Course at Collage of

Education in SQU.

Al-Jahwari, Ahmed Hamdan

ILT Department, SQU

Overview

The Instructional Computer Programming is one of the most important courses which are

provided for the students of ILT department at collage of education in SQU. This document will

explain the plan for measuring the quality of the programming course. It will focus on assuring

the quality of the programming course. And the main goal of the research is to identify the

obstacles which prevent the students from achieving the anticipated objectives of the course.

While the main objectives are to Increase the student score over the next coming semesters

compered to resent semester.

At the first for my quality assurance Plan, I will tackle general information about course,

goals, objective and concerns by conducting meeting with ILT department. Second will be

assigning team with different filed to cover all filed of the course. After that will be collecting

data from the three main area of the course. Next will be analyzing gathered data using different

tools like fish-bone diagram. And finally will be presenting data and provide recommendation for

the department. (See appendix 1)

Personal

The course involves many people from the collage as the following:

Students; the main core of the learning process, and who will be the targeted learners for the

course. And to collect data from all of the students, by conducting questionnaire which has

statements for rating scale and open-ended questions to let them express their views and feelings

toward all aspect of the course. (See appendix 2)

Instructor: the main facilitator of the learning process. He/she have full controller of the learner's

assessment over the course and familiar with students. An interview will be conducted with
instructor to collocate data about the student's performance, attitude toward the course progress

and toward the environment. (See appendix 3)

Lab technicians: person who is responsible for preparing the lab for practical session. Most of

the programing course depended on the computers. So providing continuously maintenance for

the lab will ensure the availability of the computer for users. And for that issue I will conduct

check list with lab technicians to check how regular he/she perform his/her duties. (See Appendix

4)

Curriculum/Training

The course instructor divided the course into theoretical and practical session, and the

main course objectives are:

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Recognize basic programming language and be able to create and use classes in VB.NET in a

good way.

2. Develop a VB.NET application that can communicate with a database with minimum error.

While the content provided to the students via two ways, traditional book" Microsoft

Visual C# 2008" as reference for the course and many E-books on Moodle. Also there are many

multimedia like videos on Moodle for the course. Also the students provided with software

"Microsoft Visual studio# 2008" to install the software in their own personal computer to use it in

their own pace. For this area it will be collecting data via observing the methodology of teaching

and learning on this course in each area. (See Appendix 5) Also SME to evaluate the content of

the course,
Environment

There are two learning environment for the course. The first one is the multimedia lab,

which large hall with full computers equipped; include LSD projectors, 32 computers and

speakers. All the computers are connected to the internet with good strength of bandwidth. This

part will be assessed by conducting chick list. (See appendix 6) The second one is Moodle

"LMS" which is an online environment supported by different resources media, videos and

articles related to subject of the course. It is modified by the instructors of the course according to

the way that he used it to support the learning process such as discussion forms, activities and

assignments. So this environment will be assessing according to the way that his utilized for the

course by SME.

Conclusion

To sum up, the strong points in my plan are assigning team which include SME in each

filed and the variety of assessment tools used for each area. While I suggest for the next plan to

include college administers and students from the previous course as personnel to collect more

data about the course.
