Dance provides an individual with a sense of nati0nalism and rhythm. It involves the use of
body movements to express a theme or idea. Dance also reflects the customs and traditional
practices common among town’s folk.

Dancing is a very good exercise for the whole body. It contributes to the fitness of an individual.
It provides relaxation, improves body coordination, and develops grace of movement. It is also

Dance is one of the art forms that can be shared between different cultures. It can prevent,
manage, and treat health issues and condition and has many benefits including improvement o
heart and lungs, muscle strength and endurance.

Philippine folk dances showcase the country’s unique culture and learning about it helps build
our national identity. Each region has it own dance variation that is performed during festivals
and feasts Most of these dances are inspired by everyday activities such as courtship, weddings,
birth, working in the fields, and harvesting rice. Different types of dance involve simple
movements, expression and collaboration that also exercise the brain such as remembering
various dance steps, sequence, and patterns.

People dance for a variety of reasons: or un, or recreation, and for good health. Dancing is a
great way to be more active as it offers a wide range of physical and mental benefits. However,
the range of the body movements, repetition, and speed of movements can put you at risk of
an injury, especially when you are learning unfamiliar steps like in Tinkling.

Here are some tips to reduce the risk of dance injuries:

 Warm up Thoroughly before you start dancing


 Cool down after a dance session and stretch again
 Wear proper shoes appropriate to the style of dance.
 Beware of the weight of your body, especially the shoes that involve jumping
and vigorous movements.
 Make sure take sufficient rest between session
 Stop if you feel any pain.

Supervision is important, especially for dance areas that needs risk management strategy. Take
note of the following:

1. Take extra precautions against falling or being tripped like in tinkling

3. Keep the floor clean of food, debris, and tripping hazards.
4. Have warnings and disciplinary actions in place to those who violate policies.
