Cooperative Learning Lesson Plan
Cooperative Learning Lesson Plan
II. Subject/Skill:
Science/Learn how to apply and describe the scientific method in a real-life
scenario
III. Objective(s)
Students will be able to identify the scientific method steps with 85%
accuracy after being shown a visual aid of the scientific method cycle.
Students will be able to create a Google Slide presentation after being shown a
real-time tutorial with 80% accuracy.
Students will be able to present their findings from their experiment after
finalizing their presentation with 85% accuracy.
Students will be able to identify three things they learned from the lesson after
concluding presentations with 90% demonstrated understanding.
Students will be able to identify two things they found interesting after
concluding presentations with 90% demonstrated understanding.
Students will be able to identify one question they still have after concluding
presentations with 90% demonstrated understanding.
IV. Procedures
The teacher will present, using a projector, a list of objectives (above) for the
lesson. The teacher will separate the class into five groups of five students. Then,
the teacher will provide a visual aid handout of the scientific method to each
group. The teacher will present a real-time tutorial of Google Slides. The teacher
will explain the group assignment as an 8-slide presentation, a title page, one slide
per step of the scientific method, and an experiment and its findings summary at
the end. The presentation will be worked on over the span of one and a half
lessons with the last half being presentations. Each group will decide,
collaboratively, the responsibility of each member (e.g., one slide per person with
three being created by all).
V. Materials
Computer with projection (for presentations)
Handouts
Writing utensil (pen or pencil)
Juliano 2
Paper (lined)
VI. Grouping Structures
This lesson will include five groups of five students that will work
collaboratively in the computer lab to create a Google Slides presentation.
VII. Modifications
1. English Language Learners: The teacher will provide time for the student
to utilize one-on-one teacher time once given their responsibility in the
group.
2. Learning Disabled: The teacher will provide extra time in the computer
lab for students who may need more time on their responsibility in the
group.
3. Gifted Learners: The teacher will provide an enrichment activity to be
completed after the student’s responsibility has been completed. The
activity will enable the student to complete independent research.
VIII. Assessment
Upon the completion of presentations, the teacher will ask the students to
complete a 3-2-1 formative assessment to be turned in at the end of class. The 3-2-1
assessment will ask the students to write three things they learned, two things they found
interesting, and one question they still have about the lesson. The teacher will detail that
none of the answers can be about Google Slides; it must be about the lesson itself.
