LGBT People: An Overview
Test 1: Essay
Directions: Answer the given items below. Express your answer briefly with complete
thought. Use the space provided for your answer. Write legibly and neatly. (5
points each)
1. If you do not identify as LGBT, how would you feel if people thought you were LGBT?
I don’t know how to answer this because I am a part of it. But if I identify myself
as a bold man and someone thought that I were LGBT, then I would laugh out of it
because it is uncertain. I will laugh not because of LGBTQIA+ but because they were
thought I was. This is also to make the awkward situation atleast lightweight.
2. Have you ever stood up for an LGBT person being harassed? Why or why not?
Yes, my lesbian friend was once harassed in a party. He was the center of the
jokes until the time came to which they threw below the belt statement over him. So I
stood up, and confront them that if they can’t make good towards the identity of my
lesbian friend, then we better go. I know the feeling of being teased, actually being
maltreated and discriminated that’s why it’s hard for me to see people experiencing
such.
3. Have you ever laughed at or made a joke at the expense of LGBT people? Do you feel
happy or guilty about what you did? Explain your answer.
As part of the LGBTQIA+ community, we as friends that’s all part of it used to
make laugh of each other. We never felt guilty about it because it become our sweet
habit. I think our friendship won’t last long without teasing each other. On the other
hand, I didn’t experience to make fun of other LGBT7+ members that’s unrelated to me.
I think I still have the limit to make fun of others. I respect them for who the are.
4. How would you feel if your mother, father or sibling came out to you as LGBT? What
would be your reaction?
I would feel happy for them because finally made a decision for themselves. And
coming out is a really tough decision. I would be happy that they can have the happiness
they deserve. Imagine having an LGBTQIA member as part of the family, that’s
astonishing. The family could be the happiest family.
