V. Partner Community: Barangay Alapang, La Trinidad, Benguet

VI. Profile of Partner Community:

Alapang is one of the Barangays of the Municipality of La Trinidad, Province of Benguet, and part of the
Cordillera Administrative Region. Barangay Alapang is situated on a mountain slope on the central part of
the municipality of La Trinidad with geographical coordinates of 16 degrees 21 minutes latitude and 120
degrees 25 minutes east longitude. Benguet is known for its cold pleasant weather the whole year round. Its
temperature readings are the lowest in the country, mainly due to its topography and elevation. Due to this
weather, the citizens of Barangay Alapang experience health problems like mostly cough and colds.
Briefly, serious illnesses that require extreme remedy are unusual to distinguish in the community. Along
these lines, the project aspires to sustain a healthy lifestyle for each family in all aspects amidst the
pandemic. Conducting a webinar is the most practical way to accomplish the target and plan. Some
topics to be discussed confer about exercise, proper eating, and self-discipline. Moreover, the people can
also ask questions and recommendations from our guests that may help them improve their body habits.
We believe that when one family member takes the initiative, the rest of the family can eventually follow.

IX. Impact Assessment Plan

Healthy living entails leading a healthy lifestyle and developing health-promoting habits. Being healthy
does not just mean being physically fit; it also requires being intellectually and emotionally well. Healthy
living should be a part of their daily routine. Chronic diseases and long-term illnesses can be avoided by
leading a healthy lifestyle. Self-esteem and self-image are aided by feeling good about themselves and
taking care of their health. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by following their body's instructions.

Maintaining a healthy way of life requires determination and devotion, but not without reward. Regular
workout, not smoking, constrained liquor consumption, adequate rest, and a balanced diet are all
perspectives of a healthy way of life. These choices can make strides in your well-being in each respect,
with benefits amplifying past the broadly known lower risk of disease.

Exercising regularly makes your body stronger and improves its endurance. Physical activity also conditions
your cardiovascular framework, which makes a difference to keep your muscles energized by conveying
oxygen more productively. As a result, you’ll have more vitality to do regular assignments. According to
Harvard Health Publications, an adjusted eat-less, constrained liquor utilization, and legitimate hydration
help increase vitality levels if you’re having trouble getting through your workouts; drinking 1 container of
water sometime recently and 1 glass of water after will offer assistance to keep up your vitality levels.

With this project the people of La Trinidad, Benguet will possibly have a stronger immune system which will
protect their bodies against disease and illness by helping their cells destroy viruses and germs. It will also
raise their energy, strength, and endurance, as well as their attitude. Furthermore, the mood-enhancing
chemicals released by physical activity can help you tackle the challenges of a busy day with a calmer
perspective.

People are in need of income due to the pandemic, thus living a healthy lifestyle also saves money. The
healthier you are, the less likely you are to need medical attention. This could save money by lowering co-
pays, medication costs, and other treatment costs.
Foods that have been ultra-processed contain refined grains and additives to alter the texture, taste, or
color. Junk foods, boxed dessert cakes, chicken nuggets, and sweetened morning cereals are examples of
these items. More than 70% of foods sold in supermarkets are ultra-processed. Ultra-processed food
production adds to greenhouse gas emissions, water scarcity, biodiversity loss, plastic waste, and
deforestation. As a result, leading a healthy lifestyle can help the environment.

How do we instill these habits?

We teach through example. Instilling healthy habits in our children will lead to both short- and long-term
improvements in their quality of life and, as a result, they will live a healthier life into adulthood. We can
ensure this healthier life by…

1. Introducing one or two habits at a time; it is not advisable to introduce all the desired changes all at
once. Instead, once these one or two habits are assimilated, move on to the following ones.
2. Teaching through example; demonstrate activities such as walking all together, eating healthy, or
washing our hands before eating, etc. Participating in these healthy habits as well will show the little
ones understand that these habits are not punishments, but actions of a healthy life that we all do
together.
3. Reinforcing the habits we want to instill without creating anxiety; eliminate negative phrases such as
“Do not do this, do not eat that …” and replacing them with positive ones like “This is delicious, let’s go
for a walk …”
4. Teaching the bases of a balanced diet enthusiastically and interactively; include your children in the
preparation of meals and share the reasons behind your healthy choices.
