Covered (Stick) Electrodes (Smaw) Mild Steel Electrodes: Typical Tensile Properties

OK 48.04 is an AC/DC mild steel electrode that deposits a high quality weld metal with good mechanical properties. It can be used for welding restrained structures where high welding stresses cannot be avoided. It has very good welding properties and produces a weld metal with typical tensile properties of 480 MPa yield strength and 560 MPa tensile strength when used as welded. As welded charpy v-notch impact values are typically 110 J at -30°C and 100 J at -40°C. Deposition rates range from 1.00 kg/h for a 2.5mm diameter electrode to 2.80 kg/h for a 5.0mm diameter electrode.
