Olynthos Altars

1. Four seasons of excavations at Olynthus in northern Greece revealed the town planning, domestic architecture, and religious practices within private houses in the late 5th century BC. 2. Surprisingly few religious items were found in excavations of private houses, and there was no trace of major religious architecture or evidence of public cult activity. 3. The excavations provided valuable new information about the spatial organization, city planning, and domestic religious practices in Classical Greece.
