BUTUAN CITY
BUTUAN Located in the northeastern part of the Agusan Valley. Cebuano, Butuanon, and Tagalog. Its
recorded history span for 1638 years. Agusan is located in the northeastern part of Mindanao. The most
prominent ethnic group in the area ar the Manobos . Known as great weavers and artisans .They were able to
maintain their customs and traditions. Occupies the provinces from Sarangani, Surigao, and Agusan.
CABADBARAN CITY
is the new city in Agusan del Norte. It was declared recently in 2010 and as such it is not a very well
known destination. The people in Cabadbaran City are very talented and creative when it comes to
arts and crafts. They are famous in making handicrafts such as rattan bags etc.
One material used in weaving is indigenous grass. With an abundance of the raw material in the
environment, it’s easy for locals to collect the material and eventually cultivate them for
continuous use.
BAYUGAN CITY
More than 20 artists will be showcasing their crafts with over 50 beautiful and lovely paintings that every Bayuganons
should be proud of.
Abaca farmers and weavers in the province got a big boost after the local government
unit and the international nongovernment organization Oxfam agreed to work together
for the development of the industry. Through weaving, they are able to make clothing,
textiles, banigs (or woven mats), and other items with different materials.
SURIGAO CITY
Surigao, city, northeastern tip of Mindanao Island, Philippines. Surigao Del Norte never fails to
amaze visitors with its overflowing bounty of nature. Some of the most magnificent attractions are
its landmarks that denote Surigao's existence and the role it played in our country's history. The
Antiques of Barangay Panhutongan and Surigao Heritage Center are two trademarks of the province
that once witnessed its great past. As we go through, we will find out why Surigao City contributes
much to the Philippine’s history.
BASILAN CITY
The Culture of Basilan are derived from the three main cultural ethnolinguistic nations,The Yakan
have designs or motifs used repeatedly in all their visual arts and crafts. The Yakan Village in Upper
Calarian is famous among local and foreign tourists because of their art of weaving.
Lanao del Sur is a wealth of old-world charms. From ostentatious royal houses to the tiniest detail in
their gongs, Maranao arts and crafts carry the stories of its vibrant culture. Lanao del Sur is the
homeland of the Maranao people. And it is also a universe of exquisite folk art.
MAGUINDANAO CITY
Crafting and weaving are one of the visual arts and crafts of the Maguindanao citizens. Their art
prohibits the representation of animal and human forms in arts, and this led to the development of
an abstract form of artistic carvings on wood, weaponry, musical instruments, and textiles.
The Sulu people is a wonderful race. It pioneers many interesting innovations in their lifetime.
Though most of the arts and crafts are now fast disappearing in the modern world, there are still
vestiges of hope that some will be resurrected and preserved. They are the Masters of the Sea.
Thus, they have perfected the craft of boat-making.
TAWI TAWI CITY
Tawi-Tawi is the southern most province in the Philippines with ... are hand-made, and Tandubas is
the center of where this craft orginated. The mats and their weavers were a riot of color.
Surrounded by the dull gray of well-worn wood, Tawi-Tawi, around 15 weavers were
gathered around and sitting on top of their creations – the mysterious and much sought-
after baloy. Baloy is the term they use to refer to fantastically-hued mats made of dyed
pandan leaf strips.
