1
INTRODUCTION

● Before the lesson introduction: Review homework from last class (10 minutes).
● Teacher will ask the students to list the four demonstrative adjectives in their
notebooks (2 minutes).

BODY

● Review the four demonstrative adjectives; this, that, these, and those on p. 20 of
the textbook (3 minutes).
○ Remind students that these adjectives must come before a noun.
● Explain the activity (5 minutes).
○ Play this song for students. During the song, students will compete in their
table groups and write down their names, the demonstrative adjectives, as
well as the nouns that they describe (5 minutes).
○ Answers: This (2), that (4), these (1), those (bonus)
■ This stuff, this trove
■ That word, that world, that shore, that world
■ These waters
■ Those...feet (bonus)
○ This assignment is meant to display differentiation in two ways. First, the
students will complete the assignment in groups with similar learning
styles, which is already built into their seating chart. The students will also
be in a “think, pair, share” situation.
○ The teacher will collect the clipboards with the answers (1 minute).
○ The students will continue to take their notes while the clipboards are
being collected.
● Review interrogative adjectives by discussing p. 20 together (2 minutes).
● Review indefinite adjectives by discussing p. 20 together (3 minutes).
● Students will have time to record their notes in their notebooks (2 additional
minutes).
● During the closing, the teacher will evaluate the clipboard answers and determine
winning teams.
○ The teacher will distribute prizes to the members of the winning team(s).

2
CLOSING

● Students will write three sentences with each of the interrogative adjectives. This
formative assessment will be posted as a question on Google Classroom and will
act like a digital exit ticket (10 minutes).

HOMEWORK

● Students will complete Exercises 1-3 p. 20-21 (textbook) in their notebooks.
