 The conference is an opportunity for viewing and getting acquainted with
the state-of-the art and cutting edge technologies being brought over to
our region through the exhibits. They provided also an option for the
participants to get involved in an environmental protection activity as a
sign of PAMET’s corporate social responsibility. Most of all, this can be a
good chance of a reunion, for meeting former batch mates, or simply
making new but lasting friendships and partnerships.

Explanation:
Primary and Secondary Stakeholders Primary stakeholders are the people and groups
most affected by the outcome of the project and the outcome may be positive or
negative. In research analysis, they are often divided into groups based upon certain
demographic factors such as gender, socioeconomic status, age and ethnicity.
Secondary stakeholders are individuals or groups not directly affected by the outcome
of the project, but still having an interest in it. They often help provide aid to the primary
stakeholders. These groups may include government agencies, moneylending
institutions or monitoring agencies. Primary and Secondary Stakeholders Primary
stakeholder groups are deemed essential to events as without them the event cannot
happen or cannot take place. The essential primary event stakeholders are defined as:
employees volunteers sponsors suppliers spectators attendees and participants.
Secondary stakeholders are also important to the success and survival of the event but
do not have the same direct impact upon the event as primary stakeholders. These
stakeholders are classified therefore as: government the host community emergency
services general business media and tourism organisations.

ACTIVITY 07:

Visit www.tpb.gov.ph/mice-main/services and compare the services offered by


the Tourism Promotions Board with those of other convention Bureaus. What are the
similarities and differences?

 The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) exists to market and promote the
Philippines domestically and internationally as a world-class tourism and
MICE destination, in strategic partnership with private and public
stakeholders to deliver a unique high-value experience for visitors,
significantly contributing to increased. While other convention bureaus
assist convention organizers with the marketing of group meetings and
conventions, supplying services such as hotel reservations, tours,
concierges, and on-site registration.

Guide Questions:

1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of holding an international congress


in a hotel as compared to a convention center?
 The strength of holding an international congress in a hotel is that the
participants will have more interesting experiences and will be more
comfortable. If the hotel is near the airport it would be easy for the
attendees to arrive to the location without any problem. A hotel to stay for
the participants is more convenient than having an event in a convention
center. And the weaknesses is that the attendees may focus on the hotel
itself and enjoy the accommodation rather than focusing on the event.
2. What infrastructure must be present in a destination to host international
events?
 Hotel, restaurants, airport, terminals, government agencies, and malls.

3. What is the government's role in the conduct of such international affairs?


 The government is responsible on the safety of every attendees who
would attend an international affairs. For everything that is going to
happen to every individual who attend the government will hold
responsibility.
4. Who among the government agencies takes the lead and works directly with
EE?
 Department of Tourism (DOT) (The Tourism Promotions Board) is the
agency that leads and works directly with EE.
5. What specific government services are mentioned in the case study?
 The government services that are mentioned in the case study are the
DFA who is provided with specific information on delegates who would
need to secure visa to enter the country and to help promote attendance
overseas, the DOT Office at the airport must be provided with the
delegates' or at least the speakers' exact flight details to arrange a
welcome reception, which may include a rondalla performance and
sampaguita leis upon request, the Bureau of Quarantine who is
particularly invited when alerts on diseases, such as SARS, avian flu, and
Ebola are up, the Bureau of Customs who provides important information
on duties and taxes levied on goods entering the country and the police
must be informed of the specific tour itinerary to include the spouse
program, and whether rider escorts and paneling would be required.
