The company name is PKT Logistic Group own by Mr. Michael Tio. This company is bit later
from the other company in business because of that time many people did not know many things
especially about the technology. This company which is PKT was embrace by Mr. Michael himself,
when he came back from study he embrace changes that he learn from Japanese and Korean as well
so he grown that company to have more recognition in business world. He also brought back what he
studies which is about the theoretical things as one of his strategies to build up his company. The
speaker for this industrial talk is Dato’ Seri Dr, Michael Tio he’s known as adjunct professor faculty
of entrepreneurship and business group chief executive and also as managing director of PKT logistic
group Sdn. Bhd. Mr. Michael Tio went to United States to study about logistic subject. He did a
diploma in business study and got degree in accounting and master in finance. Mr. Michael were
interested in entrepreneurship because of his father he was inspire by his own father as a businessman
that why he wanted to be like him as well. After he came back from United States, first thing that
came to his mind is about the position of himself and where is the business of logistic and also where
is the knowledge going to be next. Besides that, Mr. Michael also join the offer from Malaysia
government which is about policy venture that talking about knowledge transfer.

Mr. Michael Tio is really a great leader in handle a company. In 2009 he came up with a great
idea which about future technology with creating a Facebook account and add all the staff and
employee. This is one way to communicate with employee during free time like lunch hour and
breakfast so they can communicate with each other. Mr. Michael Tio find this app really interesting
because not only about communication but also one of advantage in order to grow a company to skill
a business and catch up with competitors because he was a last comer and that’s why he need to use
this technology to speed the information because it is very important in order how fast to
communicate and how fast can execute an idea. Besides, they became a Facebook compulsory
company because it is compulsory for every staff when it came to work they have to switch to
Facebook. There is no other choice than using it because now all people are working through social
media.

Creating happy working culture is one of the way that used by Mr. Michael Tio to embrace his
company to grow in high level. In 2010 the company which is PKT Logistic Group planning a trip to
Phuket Thailand lead by Mr. Michael himself. Over there they carry out a variety of interesting
activities for example they have a catwalk challenge, food hunt, set up a
Facebook account group to get many points as possible, and also need finding a girlfriend and post it
on Facebook account to get many likes and many people to join in. After the event end at Phuket
Thailand they went back to begin their work again and suddenly Mr. Michael Tio got an idea for their
company which is all employee need to set up a own department using creative names for example
(PKT) Technocrats for ICT department (PKT) Brotherly for security department, Talent Hunter PKT
for HR team, PKT KS Group for internal group name and last but not least PKT Doctor Fix It as
maintainance department to fix mant things like aircon, lamp, and fan. This is how happy working
culture were creating into PKT Logistic Group by Mr. Michael Tio.

Next is about building a highly motivated team which is to motivate more employee about how
to enjoy their work without having so many problem and mistake at the same time. In PKT every
single department have their own Facebook group it is because when every department own it is
became more easier to work because sometimes they didn’t have to attend the meeting like it can be
done through live streaming where all the employee can join in. other than that, there no fighting that
are allowed in Facebook also no negativity posting at all, that’s why they need to be motivate so that
this thing can be avoided from spreading anywhere. Mr. Michael Tio also like to give an advice to
those who make mistake that 97% always good and 3% is not good which mean there is not good for
you to shout to social media and then spread negativity. That negativity means the 3% of us, so before
do anything or execute any idea discuss with the CEO first. In addition, he told that the speed between
him and the staff only take 3 second which mean doing a live streaming and it take 3 second for
employee to enter the room or live session.

Regarding the knowledge creating organization which is like Japan they have a formula for
creating knowledge first is about socialization which means PKT have the place to communicate
called bar in PKT which is Facebook page or group to communicate about new idea and the feedback
from customers. The second one called externalizations that used to share an idea with customers and
creating new way to delivering product to customer to get a great feedback about the service. This
process kind of success in PKT because there so many people come to the PKT tour such as the
student felt interested to came and finish their internship in PKT. When there are many people likes to
join in the page also will grow higher and now it has a million of followers because the internship
student will promote it to their fellow friends. PKT also have a page to selling product which is
logistic. The page share about logistic capability, CSR program and Watnott. Mr. Michael itself also
has a page but his page have no direct sales because he sell his own brand.
Last but not least, Mr. Michael has work really hard to transforming the society. PKT page
now move away from talking product into social responsibility only for example, CSR program, let’s
work while studying, green wearhouse, and beautiful design. In order to to transform the society the
things that need to be done is to change the environment such as the office pantry, meeting room into
a nice and cool place so that many people like came to work without being lazy because of the
environment. Besides, fo an applying job to enter PKT family people need to make a Facebook
account and send the application there called PKT talent hunter because they did not take people that
are not from Facebook because of all that people don’t know about PKT culture. Even, the security
guard also need to a report on Facebook which is big brotherly site with a post so the CEO able to
comment and give feedback as well. Mr. Michael also can see the shift changes and remember their
name. This is also one way to know the speed travelling that they have done, how long they spend in
patrolization, and how much they pumming the patrols.

In conclusion, every company must have a clear vision and vision is a dream. Dream should
not be talk down where the CEO come out with the dream and then tell the staff that this is your
dream too. A vision and mission can be separated, the vision is of course to talking about sales and
plan. While the mission is about providing positive impact to society employee human resources and
also to build an environment and engaged with the community. There so many point of view like
building up a great company which mean make the company name to a higher level, and then
embracing technology in business mean to use the technology like Facebook and Instagram wisely to
promote company product, also we have lead by example which mean be a great leader to your people
with a great example not only talking but do it. Next is, building a highly motivated team between
CEO and employee, fun working culture such as go for a trip and do many activities, transforming
society which mean change the workplace environment and lastly collaboration and venture with
Malaysian government and many NGO out there. So that way some of the company will grow into a
better place in society without being judge by everyone.
