I am honoured to recommend Catherine Pelesi Fungo for the UDSM Postgraduate Merit scholarship, I
am a lecture at the University of Dar es salaam and have engaged directly with her in the Youth for
children innovation hub where she was a digital solutions innovator from 2020.
In the course of relating with different students I have met a few students who have the passion in
teaching and research as well as the commitment to do what it takes to attain it. I saw this in her as
whenever there was an opportunity to participate in mentoring and training Catherine was always upfront
and ready to work wether a paid or unpaid with a high degree of professionalism.
She is open minded and enthusiastic in many aspects, during her three years time at the University of Dar
es salaam She has participated in extracurricular activities such as the artificial intelligence debate held at
the University in January 2020 and engaged in a U-Report and Rapid hackathon in 2021.She also
volunteered mentoring and training with different institutions like to help to help organization which
involved training university students in basic computer skills between 2020 and 2021, also with the
university of Dar es Salaam which involved training secondary students on human centered design
approach in 2021
Catherine has been consistent in research and learning which is clearly shown through her bachelor
degree results where she was awarded upper second class with Honors and her work with a Youth for
Children Innovation Hub.This gives me confidence that she will continue to do very well and more. I am
fully convinced that she is a perfect fit for this scholarship and that she will comply to all the duties of
teaching assistant with maximum for performance as it is her ambition to become an Academician which
is inline with her current step towards becoming one as she has applied for Masters of Science in
Information System Management in the University of Dar es Salam.
