Activities in Module 5

Name:

Strand:

General Instructions: Answer all the activities on this module. Use separate sheets of
paper for your answers.

Activity I SHARE YOUR IDEAS. Explain your point or share your idea about the
question:

“Why are research titles important?”

Answer: Research Title is important because this is where you’ll see if the study is
interesting and a good topic. In making a research paper, the first thing that the
researchers need to do is to a research title. They need to think of a problem that
interests them because they will not succeed in conducting it if they don't have any
interest in it. Think of a broader topic and list down sub-topics because it will be
easier to formulate the title if they have main points. A well-constructed research title
will hook the eye of the reader and will interest them to read your study.

Activity II

A. DESCRIBING A RESEARCH. Titles below are examples of research titles.

Based on the lesson, describe each research title. Discuss its characteristics and
answer questions such as: Is the research title properly written or presented?
What is lacking in this title? Does it clearly identify the focus of the study?
FACTORS AFFECTING MATHEMATICS PERFORMANCE OF HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS
Comments: The title above is not well-constructed. It’s actually a good topic but it lacks
information such as a student of what school are they pertaining to. The main focus of
the study is not well presented. The title of the research should be formulated in a way
that should be interesting to the reader.

A RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF STRESS AMONG GRADE 12 STUDENTS

Comments: The title above is good and you can see the main topic of the study which
is the effect of stress. The topic is broad and needs to identify the main and sub-topics
of the study. It didn’t contain which school are they conducting the study so it lacks of
information too.
B. GIVING DETAILS TO A TOPIC. After going through the lesson, give details about or
describe your knowledge about title formulation to complete the diagram below.

TITLE FORMULATION

Think of a topic that interests not only you but the readers also, and make
sure the topic is timely. Timely problem is a great topic to conduct.

After thinking of a topic, start listing down the main point and sub-points of
your topics because it will help you identify the main focus of your study.

After listing down sub points/sub topics, you can now formulate a research
topic that you want to conduct by using the summarization of your topic.

Activity III

A. PROPOSING A RESEARCH TITLE. Write down 2 problems, issues, or line of

interest that you would like to research on, then formulate the research title.

PROBLEM/LINE OF INTEREST: Attitudes and performances of the employees

PROPOSED TITLE: Factors affecting the Employee’s attitude and Performance
in Municipality of Cabuyao.

PROBLEM/LINE OF INTEREST: Challenges in OJT during a pandemic.

PROPOSED TITLE: Challenges Encountered during Internship (work from
home-based) of Grade 12 students.
B. FORMULATING RESEARCH TITLE. From the topics listed below, try to
formulate your own research title.

1. Online Classes in the New Normal Education

Title: Satisfaction and Performance of Grade 12 students on the Learning Styles

of Teachers in the New Normal.

2. Struggles of Working Part-time While Attending School

Title: Factors Affecting the Academic Performance of Grade 12 Working Students

Amidst the Pandemic

Activity IV. WRITING A SHORT ESSAY

Explain your point or share your idea about the question:

1. “What is the importance of providing background about what you are

researching? “

The importance of providing background is you get to show the readers the
background of your study, and it helps them see if you have basic knowledge
about the topic you are conducting. It will also help the readers to determine the
scope of your topic or how broader it is, and it shows the readers the main topic
of your study.

2. “What is a Research question and its importance to the research study?”

All researchers need to develop research questions because it will be the basis
of their study. It needs to be answered by the researcher while conducting
research. That’s because research questions hold an important part in the
research process. These questions determine the majority of the processes used
to conduct the study by outlining exactly what the researcher is seeking to find
out. Even if the research isn't for academic goals, but for other aspects of our
lives, this is true.
Activity V

FORMULATING RESEARCH QUESTIONS. Based on your answers in the previous

activities – Research Problem (based on your answer in ACTIVITY III-A).
Write down your chosen problems then for every problem, list down five (3) research
questions.

Problem 1: Attitudes and performances of the employees

Research Question 1: How do employee attitudes affect their performance?

Research Question 2: What are the factors affecting the performances of employees?

Research Question 3: What are the main issues that affect employee attitudes?

Problem 2: Challenges in OJT during a pandemic

Research Question 1: What are the challenges encountered by the intern during the
pandemic?

Research Question 2: What are the factors that affect the employability skills of interns?

Research Question 3: What are the ways to cope up with the challenges?

Activity VI. EXPLAINING CONCEPTS. Explain the topic below based on your
understanding of the lesson.

RELATIONSHIP OF SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

Comments:

Scope and Delimitation are important in research because it contains the

topic’s limitation in the study. This is important because it shows the reader what
information is included in the research and it also explains why the researcher chose to
conduct the study. Although scope and delimitation reveal how a study is constrained,
this knowledge gives research more credibility. Before you begin your research, you
must first determine your scope. You may not be able to complete the study if it is too
broad. If the scope is too small, however, the results may not be generalizable.
Delimitations are the limits you set for your research as part of the scope definition.
Activity VII. Formulating SOP. Among the research titles you have proposed in
previous Activity III– Writing the Research Title, choose ONE. Transpose your research
title in a statement form and then formulate at least two (2) specific problems to support
your general problem. You can use the sample SOP as your guide.
