Mix Design For M-35 Pile: Sieve Analysis

This document provides a mix design for M-35 grade concrete piles to be used in two bridge construction projects in Punjab, India. The mix calls for OPC 43 grade cement, crushed angular coarse aggregate from Pathankot up to 20mm size, and fine aggregate from the Ravi River. The specified water-cement ratio is 0.40. Test data shows the materials meet specifications for strength, absorption, and gradation. The mix is designed for 400-450kg/m3 cement content and a 150-200mm slump for pouring into piles.

TARGET STRENGTH FOR MIX PROPORTIONING :- (AS PER MORTH TABLE 1700-5 )
A-3 47 N / mm 2

A-4 SELECTION OF WATER-CEMENT RATIO

Maximum Water Cement Ratio = 0.400

0.400>0.390 ok

Based on Experience, adopt Water Cement Ratio = 0.390

A-5 SELECTION OF WATER CONTENT

From Table-2 IS 10262:2009, Maximum water content for 20 mm aggregate = 186 Kg. / M3 (for 25 to 50mm Slump)

Estimated Water Content 150mm Slump = 208.32 Kg. / M3

As High Range water reducing and retarding admixture is used, water content can be reduced up to 30 percent

Based on trial with High Range water reducing and retarding admixture water content rduction of . 21.14 ٪ has been achived

Hence the arrived water content =

= { 208.32 – ( 208.32 × 21.1 ٪) }

kg / m 3
= 163.74

A-7 PROPORTION OF VOLUME OF COARSE AGGREGATE AND FINE AGGREGATE CONTENT

From Table 3 IS 10262 :2009 , Volumeof coarse aggregate corresponding to 20 mm size aggregate and fine aggregate Zone II =0.62
