Assignment - 2: Topic(s) Included: Measures of Central Tendency, Measure of Dispersion

This document provides instructions for 4 questions analyzing measures of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, and frequency distributions for 2 datasets. Question 1 involves calculating statistics like the mean, median, mode, and quartiles for Dataset 1 and creating a frequency distribution table to evaluate additional measures. Question 2 asks to create histograms, frequency and cumulative frequency polygons for the home sale prices in Dataset 2 by organizing them into 5 classes. Question 3 determines range, mean deviation, standard deviation, relative dispersion and variance using a frequency distribution of average students per teacher. Question 4 calculates the coefficient of skewness using Pearson's measure for 3 distributions.

Question 1a:
For the “dataset 1”
 Calculate Arithmetic Mean, Median and Mode (using discrete data values)
 Calculate All Quartiles
 Identify “outliers” if there are any

Question 1b:
Create a frequency distribution table for “dataset 1” using 7 classes and evaluate the following
measures;
● All Quartiles
● Median
● Mode
● D6 and D9
● P35 and P53
● Five Number Summary
● Draw Box Plot
● Bowley’s Coefficient of Skewness
● Karl Pearson’s Coefficient of Skewness

Question 2:
Assume you are a realtor in Karachi, Pakistan. You have recently obtained a listing of the selling
prices of the homes that have sold in that area in the last 6 months. You wish to organize those
data so you will be able to provide potential buyers with useful information. Use the following
data to create a histogram, frequency polygon, and cumulative frequency polygon (create
frequency distribution table for 5 classes).

Question 4:

Using the Karl Pearson’s measure of Skewness, find the coefficient of skewness for each
distribution, and describe the shape of the distribution.

 Mean = 20, median = 23, standard deviation = 5.

 Mean = 53, mode = 48, standard deviation = 8.
 Mean = 98.5, median = 98.5, standard deviation = 2.
