Solar rooftop converts solar energy into direct current (DC) electricity using solar panels mounted on
the roof of the building it would supply electricity to, or on other outdoor structures, such as carports, if
the building's roof does not provide enough mounting. Solar Panels placed on rooftops are ideal of
harnessing sun’s energy, which otherwise would have been wasted. Rooftops converted in this manner
to hold PV modules are called Solar Rooftops.

The global rooftop solar PV market size was valued at USD 66.84 billion in 2019 and is projected to
progress at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1% from 2020 to 2027. Rising deployment of
renewable energy for electricity generation along with abundant availability of solar energy during the
day is expected to drive the market growth. Rooftop solar PVs act as a secure investment for end-use
customers against the fluctuating electricity prices. End-use segments can calculate their electricity
generation cost for another ten years owing to the fact that the price of power generated from this
photovoltaics can be calculated with ease. This trend will positively influence the industry landscape
over the forecast period.

Right now in Bangladesh – The total rooftop installation till date is 185MWp. 25MWp is net metered.
The potential is around 1,000MWp by 2030 to be added as per government forecast. Out of which,
rooftop has potential of 635MWp.

Benefits of Solar Rooftop

Cost savings: One of the greatest benefits of installing solar panels on the roof is that they provide cost
savings. The tariff quotes for rooftop solar relative to industrial and commercial tariff rates are 17% and
27% lower, respectively. With the trend in solar being that panels keep getting cheaper, industries
opting for solar are bound to see gains in the next few years.

Net Metering: Current net metering policy is to net off exported energy monthly with grid energy
consumption. Products should be verified through BSTI (Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution)
and enlisted in SREDA (Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority) to avail net metering
benefit. One can install solar system at 70% maximum of their total demand

Reduces carbon footprint: From the very initial process of installing the panels to the electricity
generated by PV cells, no health hazards are involved and don’t generate any heat-trapping gases that
contribute to global climate change
Low maintenance costs: Rooftop Solar System is a cost-effective system. It simply requires proper
cleaning and good maintenance from time to time, which is not even a complicated process. Most solar
rooftops have a life expectancy of 25 years which makes them worth the investment.

Reduction in electricity bills: Installing solar panels for home or office use can reduce your electricity
bill. A normal electricity connection relies on coal, oil, and natural gas to power homes across the
country. By installing panels on your home’s rooftop saves you economically as well as the environment.

Suitable for Bangladeshi Climate: Our country is situated in such a geographical location that is ideal for
receiving ample tropical sunlight. With almost 300 sunny days with clear skies.

No additional Space required:

Since the system is installed on the roofs of commercial or residential buildings (as is clear from the
name!), they do not require large tracts of land; this concept is both viable and sustainable.

Support from the government: Bangladesh govt. have planned 40% of the nation's electricity will come
from renewables by 2041.

YOU CAN BECOME SOLAR TOO!

Rooftop solar systems are becoming a popular source of power i.e electricity generation. Even you can
go solar and save money and the planet with solar rooftop solutions for commercial use.

With proper planning and appropriate implementation of the system, you can have a renewable source
of power supply at minimal expense.
TAB About US:

Our company Sunroof Energy Limited established for implementing rooftop solar projects in
Bangladesh. Recently we signed a PPA Contract of 625KWP On Grid Solar Power System installation with
ANANTA Group. This is the first Private PPA signed so far. Sunroof Energy Limited has mission and vision
to align with Bangladesh government renewable energy strategy to achieve the sustainable
development growth in the country.
TAB Our Projects:

Sunroof Energy Limited made an agreement with Ananta Apparels ltd for 625KWp on grid solar system.
This is the first private PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) in our country. Engr. Mohin Habib, Managing
Director of Sunroof Energy Ltd. and Mr. Sharif Zahir Managing Director of Ananta group signed the
contract from their respective companies. Mr. Munawar Misbah Moin, Managing Director of
Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy Ltd. also was present in the signing ceremony. Under this agreement,
Sunroof Energy Ltd. will provide solar electricity to Ananta Group to provide sustainable and clean
energy, which is in line with the vision of Bangladesh government.

.
Tab Services:

This company will continue the periodic maintenance services for rooftop solar projects in Bangladesh.
This could be part of annual maintenance agreement with the clients. Scope of services will be defined
upon discussion between both parties.
