A. DAILY ROUTINE

“Hello students! I am Teacher Josh and I will be your “Hello po sir Josh!”
instructor for this afternoon.”

“Now before we start anything, let me set first the rules for
today’s virtual meeting.”

1. CLASSROOM RULES

(The teacher reads the classroom rules presented in the

slide)

“And I am requesting that those who have strong internet

connection, please open your camera, and those who have
slow internet connectivity, you can use the chat box in
participating!”

2. OPENING PRAYER
“Now that we have established the classroom rules, let’s do “Amen!”
first an opening prayer. May I request (______) to lead us
the opening prayer.”

“Thank you (_____). “

3. GREETINGS

“How are you students? How’s your day so far?” “We are pretty good sir!”

“Alright! So, are you all excited to what we are going to “Yes, we are sir!”
learn today?”

“That’s absolutely great!”

4. CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE

“Let’s take a look first if everyone is here.” “Yes sir! Everybody is present today.”
“Is everybody present today?”

“Okay, it looks like all of you are very much excited, am I “Yes sir!”
right?”

5. RECAP
“Now, can you tell me students what we have discussed “We have discussed about….”
last meeting?”

“Jether?”

“Very well said (______)”

“Can you tell me students what day is it today?” “Yes sir, it is Tuesday today!”
“Very good!” Today is Tuesday!

“THANK GOD IT’S TUESDAY!”

A brand-new day for us to be alive and to be thankful for

our blessings!”

“Now students, before anything else, I want you to share 1

thing you are most grateful for today. Write your answers “Students answer...”
in the chat box.”

“It is important to surround ourselves with positive energy

and to be grateful for everything, regardless of how difficult
life can be at times!”

B. MOTIVATION

“Before we proceed in discussing a new lesson today, let us

first have a group activity.”

“Are you excited students?” I hope you do because this

activity will let you reflect on some of the important issues “Yes sir!”
happening in our country.”

“This activity is called THIS IS MY OPINION!”

“The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be

given images. One representative each group will be
randomly selected to share his/her opinions on the given
picture for 40 secs using the following expressions:

In my opinion; It is my belief that; In my mind; and I think

that.”

“Do you understand class?” “Yes sir!”

“Great!”
“Those who will not be called may share their opinion in
the chat box. Take note that this meeting is being recorded,
and I can simply scan the recorded video to see if everyone
in the room is truly participating.”

“Anyways, here are your groups! For group 1 we have… For

group 2 we have… and for group 3 we have…”

“Now, students, are you ready to play?”

“Yes sir!”
“For our first picture, we have the infamous dolomite. The
member from group who’s lucky enough to be chosen to
share his/her opinion using the given expressions is MS.
PANERIO!”

“Ms Panerio, are you ready?”

“Great! You will only be given 40 secs to answer and pls “Yes sir!”
incorporate the given expressions in giving or sharing your
opinion”
“Your timer starts now!”
“In my opinion, dolomite….”
“Very well said Ms. Panerio!” Now, let us move on to the
second picture. We have Covid-19 Vaccine! And the person
from group to who will share his/her opinion is MS EBAD!”

“Ms Ebad, are u ready?”

“Yes sir!”
“Your 40 secs start now!”
“It is my belief that CoVid-19…”
“Great answer Ms Ebad! Thank you so much!”

“Now for our last picture we have WAR ON DRUGS IN THE

PH” The last person to share his/her opinion is Mr.
Salvador!”

“Mr Salvador, share your opinion about the picture using

the given expressions and your 40 secs start now.” “I think that the war on drugs in the
Ph….”

“Thank you so much, Ms Ebad, Ms Panerio, and Mr

Salvador, for your excellent responses! I can truly say that “Welcome sir Josh!”
the three of you are very opinionated individuals, same
with your classmates, as I can see them sharing their own
thoughts using the given expressions in the chat box!”

“Now I know that you have observed something about the

structures of their responses. By that I want you students
to reflect on this question.”

(The teacher flashes the slide with question)

“Let’s ask one of the players, Ms Ebad, what have you
observed with the structures of your responses?” “I have observed sir that……”

“That’s a good point Ms Ebad!”

“Let’s ask the members, Mr Cataluna, what have you

noticed with the responses of players?” “I have noticed sir that…”

“Very good observation Mr Cataluna”

“Alright! That is why I gave you pictures and I asked you to

share your opinions about the pictures being shown using
the following expressions because these expressions are
considered opinion-marking signals. In the activity that you
did, you were able to use such expressions in giving your
own opinion or beliefs and these are considered as
Opinion-Marking Signals.”

“Have you heard of opinion-marking signals before

students?” I hope you do because I know how much you all
enjoy expressing your own opinions on anything. Whether
in person or on social media. However, students, be
cautious when sharing your unsolicited opinions with
others because it is not acceptable to rub it in the faces of
others without them even asking for it.”

“Am I clear on that students?”

“Absolutely sir!”
READING OF OBJECTIVES

“Okay, before we dig deeper with the lessons, let’s know

first our lesson objectives. Can you read our first objective “Our first objective is….”
Ms Masmela.”

“Thank you Ms Masmela”

“Can you read the 2nd objective Mr Bloron”

“Our second objective is….”
“Thank you Mr Bloron”

“And our last objective is for students to appreciate the

importance of the opinion-marking signals in an open
discussion.”
“We have here a statement that will lead us to our lesson
for this afternoon.”

“Every time people engage in interaction or conversation,

the interactions are always laden with opinions.”

“Do you agree with this statement students? Or disagree?

Type Agree and Disagree in the chat box!”

“I can see that all of you agrees to the statement. My

question is why? Why do you agree?”

“Any volunteers? Okay none, so I’ll call names, uhm

Gallano. Why do you agree?
“I agree to that sir because…”
“Okay, thank you for that Mr Gallano.”

“Well, it is true that every time people engage in

interaction or conversation, the interactions are always
laden with opinions because it is natural for human
interactions to give rise to the foundation of different kinds
of opinions in a society.

(The teacher will now give the definition of opinion-

marking signals.)

“Any clarification before we move on to the next slide

(presentation of list of expressions or signals to introduce
an opinion.)”

(The teacher presents the list of opinion-marking signals)

“Again, students, these are some of the examples of

opinion marking signals that we usually use in giving our
own opinions about a certain topic or idea. We can use
these expressions in figuring out which of the sentences are
opinionated and which one is not.”

“Can you read both of the sentences Ms Cabanlit?”

“Sentence 1
I believe that children are our future.
Sentence 2
“Which sentence do you think is opinionated?” Humans are mammals. “
“Are you sure?”
“Sentence 1”
“Let us ask your classmates, “Which of the two sentences “Yes sir”
do you think is opinionated?” Put in your answers in the
chat box” (Students answer….)

“Let us return to Ms Cabanlit; why do you believe sentence

1 is opinionated? What was it about sentence 1 that made
you think it was opinionated?”
“Because of the presence of an
“Very good explanation Ms Cabanlit!” opinion-marking signal – I believe sir”

“Because of the presence of an opinion-marking signal, we

can say that the statement 1 is opinionated. It is an opinion
and it is not based on facts!”

“Now, let me go back to the activity we had just done

earlier. The activity “It’s my own opinion.” And I want you
to reflect on this question.”
• What do you think is the importance of these
Opinion-Marking Signals in sharing your opinions?

“Ms Hermoso…”

“Okay thank you Ms Hermoso”

“Hermoso answers…”
“Mr. Barra”

Please do share you answer for the given question in the

chat box. “Barra answers…”

(The teacher reads the comment in the chat box)

“Thank you for your answers students! All of you are

correct in saying that in sharing opinions, we can use these
signal words or phrases to connect our ideas logically,
clearly, and creatively. “
“Opinion marking signals are important because this will
help you to connect ideas and add unity in your writing.
And furthermore, they are like clues that guide you to
clearly understand the relationships of ideas in the text.”

“It is good students that you can now recognize the

significance of opinion-marking signals. Because we are
constantly confronted with these expressions in our daily
lives, and it's nice to know how important they are in our
daily conversations.”

(ASSUME the RECAP)

DRILL

“Now, let’s see if you really understand the lesson by

playing this game called FIND ME!”

“In this activity, there will be various sentences and you

students will locate the opinion-marking signals being used
in the said sentences.”

“Type in you answers in the chat box!” Take note that the
meeting is recorded so those who will not answer in the
chat box will automatically be marked absent!

“Let’s start.”

“1. As far as I am concerned, this CoVid-19 pandemic

makes us realize how important health is.”

“All of you got the correct answer!”

“In the sentence number 1, it was said that this pandemic

makes us realize how important health is. Which truly
speaks a lot because health is really wealth. It may sound
very cliché but that’s the reality of life. This is some of the
important lessons we can learn from this CoVid-19
pandemic.”

“Do you agree students?”

“Okay let’s move to number 2.”

“I am confident that we can find a cure to this pandemic.”

“Locate the opinion-marking signal in this sentence.”

(FINISH OR ASSUME THE REMAINING NUMBERS!)

ASSESSMENT!

“Now, for you quiz, you will identify the opinion-marking

signals in the given paragraph below. Write your answers in
your notebook and take a photo of it and turn it in in our
google classroom.”

“I guess we do not have much enough time so I will be

giving you now your assignment.”

“Write a 300-word essay about Rodrigo Duterte running for

Vice President in the 2022 elections using opinion-marking
signals.”

“Any clarification before we end our class? Hearing none so

(insert name) lead the closing prayer.”
