CULMINATING ACTIVITY 2021 – BTT1O-A

Franchise Proposal (20%)

The potential investors are eagerly waiting for the final franchise proposals. You and your
colleagues are competing against each other to come up with the best ideas for this operation.
You plan on opening the business on Jan 1, 2023, so time is of the essence since it will take
about a year to get everything set up to open.

What do I do?
The competition between the entire class has come down to the final franchise report and exit
interview. The presentation should highlight all the key documents that you have created
throughout the semester and what role they play in the preparation of the overall plan. The
culminating franchise plan should include the following items:
•Title Page – title, graphic, name, teacher’s name, date & course code
•Table of contents
•Executive Summary – a half to one page highlight of the contents of the franchise proposal
Small Office Home Office
Create a home office for your franchise. You will be allowed a budget of $3000, which is an
increase from $2000 from your earlier assignment.
This area should include the following items:
•Office Floor plan – based on your needs
•List of technology and services required to meet the needs of you as the franchise owner
•Furniture and fixtures that will provide for an ergonomic workplace to keep you safe and
healthy
•Best practices in office health and safety (Ergonomics)
•A detailed budget for the purchases.

Word Documents
•Business letter to the franchisor explaining why you would be an excellent candidate to
purchase the franchise. Include evidence of research indicating your business knowledge and
analysis of the franchise and marketplace. In other words what do you know about this
franchise/industry and why will it succeed in Brampton with you running?
Financial Projections:
Using MS Excel, prepare the following:
 Spreadsheet #1 Projected Expenses – total expenses of all items for the first month and
year. Have expenses increase 8% each month.
 Spreadsheet #2 Projected Revenue – expected sales for the first year. Make a 12 month
chart showing an increase of 10% each month from January to December.
 Spreadsheet #3 Projected Income Statement – Revenues, Expenses & Net Income for the
first year (ending Dec 31, 2023).
Promotions/Social Media
•2 additional items of your choice i.e. brochure, business card or flyer, etc.
•2 Social Media platforms-explain why you chose these mediums. You do not need to actually
set up or join a social media site. You are to explain which social media sites you would use as a
marketing tool as a franchise owner for your particular franchise.
Conclusion/Recommendation:
What did you learn about your venture into franchising? Would you recommend owning this
franchise?
Learning you will demonstrate:
•apply effective techniques when conducting electronic research.
•demonstrate an understanding of the terminology associated with information and
communication technology
•demonstrate an understanding of the computer workstation environment
•use word processing software to create common business documents
•use spreadsheet software to perform a variety of tasks
•demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of effective business documents and
communications
•use appropriate technology to facilitate effective communication

Exit Interview (10%)

You will present your franchise report to your teacher in an Exit Interview. You will have 10
minutes to present your report to each, which should include all of the components listed above.
You will answer any questions the teacher may have about your project or any other course
material covered this semester.
