Case 2.1 Hector Gaming Company

Answer 1:

The main problem that HDC is facing involves a lack of technique set up and improper

control of the board. The central management lack a strategy of organizing the way activities and

projects in the company are supposed to be coordinated. It is seen that projects in the company

are done parallel to each other (Larson & Gray, 2020). Not all projects are equal since they are

those that are major to the company’s vision while others are minor.

Project managers do not agree to share resources. This is a major cause of projects not

being delivered in time. Resources are being wasted due to improper control and monitoring of

the company’s board. HDC will drag behind in this one way; therefore, giving other companies a

chance to perform better.

Answer 2:

The symptoms of the major problem being faced by HDC is depicted by the frequency in

which the conflicts are increasing. Project managers are having conflicts on resources that they

need to run the projects. They cannot share resources or even give resources to those projects

that are critical to the organization (Larson & Gray, 2020). Each of the project managers claims

that their projects are vital. These disagreements have resulted to project deadlines not being met

as well as working over budget.

Nevertheless, some HDC top talent is working on a project that is outside the market

niche and vision of the company. The project that they are developing is a business international

game designed for college students. The company is known to specialize in educational games

for children. Having some of the top talent developers in the company working outside the goals

and vision of the company is a huge problem.

Nonetheless, the hiring of a crucial product development employee from HDC by another

company is another symptom of the problem. It means that employees of HDC are not dedicated

to work towards producing the best (Larson & Gray, 2020).

Answer 3:

The major cause of the problem is a poor management strategy by top managers of the

company. The company lacks policies and procedures that ensure the proper running of projects.

Each project manager has full control of his project. This is the reason why they prioritize their

projects more than others are. Since there are no project guidelines, project managers do not

meet deadlines for their projects and even go beyond the budget.

Top managers in the company are not providing any support to project managers in the

company. They give project managers full control and that is the main reason why projects are

not been done accordingly. Besides, these essential employees in the company are not being

groomed well. Projects are supposed to be categorized depending on their complexity, duration

and how they are important to the organization. Since HDC has not categorized its projects, the

conflict between projects managers will arise (Larson & Gray, 2020).

Poor management of top managers of the company has caused its employees to work

against the market niche and the vision of the company. It shows that they do not have adequate

time to monitor and address the problems being faced in time. Company’s to developers

therefore find ways in which they can benefit themselves rather than working towards achieving

the goal of the company.
