When a course has a laboratory/ practical component, the Term End Examinations for the
theory and lab/practical will be conducted separately. However, while arriving at the 50%
weightage given to the TEE (i.e. 50% external marks), the marks scored both in theory
and laboratory/practical will be considered together with proper weightage, based on the
ratio between the theory (including tutorials) and lab credits.
Example:
For a course having an LTPC of 2-1-2-4, the ratio of credits between theory and lab
components is (3:1). Hence the 50% weightage given to the TEE (as external marks) will
be calculated, by considering the marks obtained in the Term End theory Exam and Term
End lab Exam in 3:1 ratio. If it is assumed that the student has earned 85 marks (out of
100) in TEE (theory) and 95 (out of 100) in lab assessment (lab component evaluated for
50+50=100, as shown in Section 9.5), then the equivalent TEE marks obtained by the
student is [(85*3 + 95)/4] 87.5 (out of 100). Hence the 50% weightage of the TEE,
considered as External marks, will be (87.5/2 = 43.75) 44 (out of 50).
# For min TEM, under no circumstances any relaxation will be given.
