1. STOPPING- is coming to rest. It usually stabilizes the accident situation.

Stopping
may occur with or without control be the driver or pedestrian.
2. INJURY- is receiving a bodily harm.
3. KEY EVENT- is an event on the road which characterizes the manner of occurrence
of a motor vehicle traffic accident. It determines the exact time, place and type of
accident. It is whichever of these three (3) events occur first:
a. Running of the road
b. Non- collision on the road
c. Collision on the road
4. CRUCIAL EVENT- is whatever occurrence the traffic unit would have avoided by
escaping the hazard. These are five (5( kinds of crucial events:
a. Leaving available path
b. Turning over the path without collision
c. Other non- collision in path
d. Collision with non traffic object in or adjacent to the path
e. Collision with other traffic unit in the path ( not properly parked vehicle)
5. REPEATED EVENTS- sometimes occur in the place and time at when an accident
involved two or more collision.
Ex. Two cars collided and then one struck a fixed object.
6. POINT OF POSSIBLE PERCEPTION – is the place and time at which the unusual
or unexpected movement or condition could have been perceived by a normal person.
7. DELAY IN PERCEPTION- is the time between the point of possible perception and
the actual perception, If hazard is actually perceived as soon as possible, perception is
said to be prompt.
8. MAXIMUM DELAY IN PERCEPTION- when a traffic unit does sense a hazard
until he hits it.
Perception point and point of possible perception- are mainly in trying to
discover and evaluate the contribution of drivers and pedestrians to accidents.
Did driver do anything or fail to do anything before the perception point that
contributed to this difficulty.
9. POINT OF NO ESCAPE- is that place and time after or beyond which the accident
cannot be prevented by the traffic unit under consideration.
Sometimes point of no escape and point of perception are the same. Sometimes the
point of no escape comes before the point of perception.
10. FINAL POSITION- is the place and time when objects involved in ( traffic) accident
comes to rest without application of power.
11. POINT OF IMPACT- is a term used in connection with traffic accidents. Impact
generally means the same.
12. FATAL INJURY- is an injury that results in death within from the motor vehicle
traffic accident.
13. SERIOUS VISIBLE INJURY- is a bleeding wound, distorted member or any
condition that requires the victim to be carried from the scene of the accident.
14. MINOR VISIBLE INJURY- is an abrasion, bruise, swelling, limping or obviously
painful when moving/ movement.
15. PROPERTY DAMAGE- is any motor vehicle accident in which there is no injury to
any person but only damage to the motor vehicle, to other motor vehicle or to other
properties including animals.
16. TRAFFIC ISLAND- these are areas within the roadway constructed in a manner to
establish physical channels through which vehicular is guided.
