CREATE A WINDOWS 10
VIRTUAL MACHINE

We will download and install software required to create


Virtual Machines (VMs). Once installation is completed, we
will create and configure a Windows 10 VM.

1. Visit https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools, sign in


with your Seneca account and click “software” on the left menu
bar. Download Windows 10 Educational and make sure you copy

7. IMPORTANT: Hit next and name the virtual machine: APL355 - LastName. You will
need the following toolbar to be included in every screenshot moving forward.

8. Keep the default 60GB disk size and select “Split virtual disk into multiple files”.
9. Hit “customize hardware”. Change memory allocation to 8GB and processors to 2
processors and 4 cores (it should show a total of 8).
Note: VMs need to be able to wrk alongside your Windows “host”, therefore these
numbers might need to change if you have problems starting the VM.)
Once the configurations have been made, take a screenshot by pressing alt + print
screen, and paste the screenshot below.

9. Close that window and hit “finish”.


10. VMware should automatically start the install of Windows 10.
11. Once everyting is installed, it will reboot a few times and start up your Windows 10
VM. (This may take some time).
12. Once this is complete, you should have a working version of Windows 10.
13. Close and save your VM. Copy it to a removable drive so you can easily bring it to
campus for synchronous labs.
